Embr, a wristband designed to provide quick relief from hot flashes, has won an award from the American Aging Association (AARP) as an Innovator in Aging category winner. The device, similar to house arrest bracelets in appearance and operation, uses algorithmically-designed waves of temperature fluctuation that either cool or warm the wearer and should ideally be worn around the wrist where there are more heat-sensitive nerve endings than anywhere else on the body.
The Wave 2 is easy to use and works with an app that allows for customization of each cooling or warming session, tracking user usage patterns over time and providing personalized recommendations based on this data. Plus it comes equipped with comfort band and charging dock – it’s available on Amazon for $299!
Along with Cool and Warm modes, this app also offers special modes to help users sleep better: Fall Asleep and All Night Warm/Cool are designed to promote deep restful slumber; there is even an “Anti-Distress” mode designed specifically to ease anxiety.
Established in 2017 and located in Boston, Massachusetts, this company has raised $35m from intellectual property-backed debt financing. They currently employ 13 staff.
