Sources close to Braun told Variety that his mass departure wasn’t linked to recent legal matters. After being freed by President Donald Trump from prison in 2020, Braun now faces a lawsuit from New York Attorney General Letitia James alleging fraudulent and illegal lending practices in merchant cash advances – an industry segment with limited regulations and oversight.
Braun’s lawyer, Frank Seddio, didn’t respond to our request for comment but has denied the allegations against his client. Additionally, New York Supreme Court Judge Andrew Borrok temporarily barred Braun and his company from making loans or accepting repayment payments related to loan-related payments.
