How to get Old Navy cashback, step by step

  1. Open Rakuten's Old Navy page and click through to Old Navy from there. That click is what ties the order to your account, so start every Old Navy order this way rather than from a bookmark or a search result. The rate as we last read it was 10%.
  2. Shop in that same tab and session. Don't leave for a coupon site and come back, and turn off any other cashback or coupon extension before you check out: the last click before the order is the one that gets credited, and another extension's click can take it.
  3. Check out in one go, using only codes Rakuten itself shows for Old Navy. A code from somewhere else can void the cashback on many stores.
  4. Wait for it to confirm. 3 to 14 weeks for online and in-store purchases; 45 to 120 days for travel. Returning part of the order, or cancelling it, changes what gets paid.
  5. Get paid. Rakuten pays by: Big Fat Check by mail, PayPal, American Express Membership Rewards points, or Bilt. A confirmed balance of $5.00 or more can also be redeemed as a gift card within minutes. Minimum: $5.01 in confirmed cash back before the payment date; $5.00 or less carries over to the next one. Timing: Every three months: February 15, May 15, August 15 and November 15.

Does Old Navy have its own cashback or rewards program?

Yes, Encore, and it's a real cross-brand program confirmed on Old Navy's own site, not just portal editorial. It's the same membership across Old Navy, Gap, Banana Republic and Athleta, free at its base tier, with a paid-in-spend middle tier and a credit-card top tier.

  • One membership, four brands. Old Navy's own rewards page states the pitch directly: "One membership. Four brands. More access." source.
  • Three tiers, and what unlocks each one. "Core Join for free and get rewarded! Earn 5 points per $1 spent at our family of brands" source. "Premier Unlock more perks after you spend $350+ annually" source. "All-Access Become an Encore Cardmember to get Core & Premier Member benefits plus more exclusives" source. The page's own tier header row confirms the free tier plainly: "Core Free to Join Premier Annual Spend $350+ All-Access Cardmember" source. The full point-rate table compares all three tiers side by side on the same page; beyond Core's stated 5 points per dollar, the other two tiers' exact rates didn't extract cleanly from this fetch, so check the live page for the current numbers rather than take a guess here.
  • Perks by spend threshold. "Free Shipping When you spend $50+" for members generally, and a lower bar for the card tier, "All-Access Cardmembers who spend $35+" source. Two more named perks: "New! Encore Market Gives you access to new drops, collabs, and events" source and "Birthday Bonus Enjoy a birthday bonus – on us" source, plus "Cardmembers Early Access Get first dibs on new arrivals so you can debut the latest styles" source.
  • What doesn't earn points. "Purchases paid with gift cards or store credit do not earn points." source.

Put together: Core is free and pays real points on every dollar, Premier is a spend threshold rather than a fee, and All-Access needs the store card. None of it is portal cashback, so a portal click stacks with all three tiers.

What Old Navy cashback stacks with

The short version: of the three portals whose Old Navy terms this page quotes, Rakuten and TopCashback pay, and Price.com's own store page 404s outright rather than showing a rate or an explicit "no cash back" message. Both paying portals exclude the same two things: gift cards, and the part of an order paid for with Encore points. Fluz sells its own Old Navy gift card, a separate mechanism that pays for buying the card rather than for a tracked click.

LayerStacks with portal cashback?Notes
Earning Encore pointsYesPoints post from Old Navy's own system; neither Rakuten's nor TopCashback's terms say a tracked click interferes with earning them.
Spending Encore pointsNo, at Rakuten by name; TopCashback's wording is broader and less clearRakuten excludes "the portion of your order paid for with reward points" source. TopCashback's exclusion reads "use of the loyalty program" source, which could mean redeeming points, or something broader; we're not guessing which, so treat any loyalty-program interaction as a risk to the cashback there.
An Old Navy promo codeDepends where the code came fromTopCashback excludes "Use of a coupon code not displayed on TopCashback." source. Rakuten's Old Navy terms don't address codes from elsewhere source, so the safe move there is to stick to what's on its own page.
The Encore Credit Card (All-Access)YesIt earns its own points on the charge, separate from portal cashback on the tracked order; the pillar guide covers how card rewards and portal cashback coexist generally.
Encore Market redemptionsNot named by either paying portalOld Navy's own terms say "Encore Market redemptions are final sale and cannot be returned or exchanged." source, but that's a statement about the redemption itself, not about portal cashback, which neither Rakuten's nor TopCashback's terms mention.
Gift cards, including the Fluz cardNo, at Rakuten and TopCashbackRakuten excludes "gift cards & e-gift cards" source. TopCashback excludes "Purchase of an Old Navy gift card" source. A Fluz Old Navy card is a gift card (Fluz lists the issuer as Old Navy), so it's one route or the other on a given order, never both. Fluz's own cashback lands when you buy the card, before Old Navy sees the order.
A second portalNeverOnly one tracking click gets credit; the pillar guide explains why the last click wins.

Old Navy cashback exclusions and what breaks tracking

Rakuten and TopCashback both pay, both exclude gift cards, and both touch the loyalty program in some way; Price.com's own store page for Old Navy returns a 404 rather than showing terms.

  • Rakuten's exclusions and terms. "Cash Back is not available on gift cards & e-gift cards, or the portion of your order paid for with reward points" source. Free shipping: "Free shipping is available on orders $50+ for Rewards Members." source, which matches the $50 threshold Old Navy's own page states for members generally. Posting: "Cash Back will be automatically added to your Rakuten account tomorrow." source.
  • TopCashback's exclusions and terms. "Purchase of an Old Navy gift card and/or use of the loyalty program. Use of a coupon code not displayed on TopCashback." source. Terms: "Cash Back is calculated only on the item(s) price and does not include taxes, shipping or other fees." "Cash Back earned cannot exceed the total purchase amount." "To be eligible for Cash Back on all products, you must begin your purchase with an empty shopping cart." source.
  • Price.com. The direct store URL we'd expect, price.com/stores/oldnavy, returns a 404. We're not treating that as confirmation Price.com pays nothing, since a 404 is a different finding from a page that states outright it doesn't currently pay; treat it as a page we couldn't read this session. Check the live table above for whatever rate, if any, is currently showing.
  • Fluz's card limits, and it's reloadable unlike some merchants' cards here. Cards run "from $10–$500" and are "redeemable in-store and online" source. The spec block: "Non-refundable", "Does not expire", "Reloadable" source, the last one a real difference from other merchants' Fluz cards on this site, several of which are printed as non-reloadable instead.

What breaks tracking at any store, Old Navy included (the pillar guide has the portals' own wording on each):

  • A second coupon or cashback extension that fires after the one you're earning with, so its click is the last one Old Navy sees.
  • Starting on one device and finishing on another, including clicking through on a laptop and buying in the Old Navy app. The click has to happen where the checkout happens.
  • Items already in the cart before the click. TopCashback states the empty-cart rule outright on its Old Navy page.
  • Paying part of an order with Encore points, at Rakuten by name.
  • A promo code from somewhere other than TopCashback's own page.
  • Paying with a gift card, or buying one, at Rakuten and TopCashback.
  • A return, an exchange or a cancellation, which reverses the commission the cashback was going to be paid from.

How these Old Navy numbers were produced

Old Navy cashback FAQ

Which portal pays the most for Old Navy cashback right now?

Rakuten, at 10%. That's the rate a returning shopper gets, which is how the table ranks: an "up to" ceiling or a new-customer rate never takes this spot over a lower rate everyone gets.

How long does Old Navy cashback take to pay out?

On a click-through portal there are two waits, one after the other: the portal has to confirm the order with Old Navy, which mostly tracks Old Navy's return window, and then the confirmed balance has to be paid out, which is the portal's own rule. Buying Old Navy's gift card through a portal skips the first wait: that cashback is paid when the card is bought.

Is there a minimum payout?

Does Old Navy cashback work if I spend Encore points on the order?

No, at Rakuten by name. It excludes "the portion of your order paid for with reward points" source, so a points-covered order tracks at less than its full value there. TopCashback's exclusion is broader and less specific, "use of the loyalty program" source, which could mean more than just spending points; we don't narrow that down by guessing.

What is Encore, and does it cost anything to join?

A free-to-start, cross-brand loyalty program shared across Old Navy, Gap, Banana Republic and Athleta: "One membership. Four brands. More access." source. The base tier is free: "Core Join for free and get rewarded! Earn 5 points per $1 spent at our family of brands" source. A middle tier unlocks by spending rather than paying a fee, "Unlock more perks after you spend $350+ annually" source, and the top tier needs the store credit card. None of that is portal cashback, so it stacks with a Rakuten or TopCashback click on the same order.

Do gift cards ever earn cashback at Old Navy?

Not from a portal, but the Fluz card is itself a gift card, which is a different question. Rakuten excludes "gift cards & e-gift cards" source, and TopCashback excludes "Purchase of an Old Navy gift card" source. Fluz's own product pays for buying its "$10–$500" gift card source, which is the cashback landing at the moment of purchase rather than at checkout, so it isn't affected by the other two portals' gift-card exclusions; it also isn't stackable with either of them on the same order, since paying with that card is exactly the purchase type both exclude. Worth knowing separately: Encore points themselves don't earn on a gift-card-funded order either, since "Purchases paid with gift cards or store credit do not earn points." source.

Is there a minimum order for Old Navy cashback?

Neither Rakuten's nor TopCashback's Old Navy page states one. Both pay on the item price only: TopCashback excludes "taxes, shipping or other fees" source, and Rakuten's terms don't mention shipping being included either source. The threshold you'll actually feel is Old Navy's own free-shipping line, "$50+ for Rewards Members" per Rakuten's editorial source, which is a shipping fee waiver, not cashback. Fluz's card starts at "$10" source, the floor on that route. Payout minimums are per portal, in the questions above.
