Chewy Cashback: Every Portal's Rate, Compared
The best Chewy cashback we found is 6% at BeFrugal, read from BeFrugal's own Chewy page.

How to get Chewy cashback, step by step
- Open BeFrugal's Chewy page and click through to Chewy from there. That click is what ties the order to your account, so start every Chewy order this way rather than from a bookmark or a search result. The rate as we last read it was 6%.
- Shop in that same tab and session. Don't leave for a coupon site and come back, and turn off any other cashback or coupon extension before you check out: the last click before the order is the one that gets credited, and another extension's click can take it.
- Check out in one go, using only codes BeFrugal itself shows for Chewy. A code from somewhere else can void the cashback on many stores.
- Wait for it to confirm. Verified cash back sits in the account for 30 to 90 days, set by the retailer's return policy and its payment cycle with BeFrugal. Store pages say cash back is typically available for payment 15 to 60 days after purchase. Returning part of the order, or cancelling it, changes what gets paid.
- Get paid. BeFrugal pays by: Check, PayPal, direct deposit, Venmo, Zelle or an eGift card. Check and direct deposit are US only. Minimum: $0.01 for PayPal or direct deposit; $25 for a check. Timing: On request. Most payouts are sent on the next business day after the request.
Getting paid, portal by portal
Each portal's own help pages, as written there. The source link on each row goes to the page it came from. These are the portal's terms, not Chewy's.
| Portal | Paid by | Minimum | Confirmation window |
|---|---|---|---|
| BeFrugalsource | Check, PayPal, direct deposit, Venmo, Zelle or an eGift card. Check and direct deposit are US only. | $0.01 for PayPal or direct deposit; $25 for a check. | Verified cash back sits in the account for 30 to 90 days, set by the retailer's return policy and its payment cycle with BeFrugal. Store pages say cash back is typically available for payment 15 to 60 days after purchase. |
| Active Junkysource | Check, PayPal, Venmo or a credit/debit card. Approved cash back can also be cashed out early as a gift card. | None stated for the monthly payout. Cashing out early as a gift card takes $5.01 in approved cash back. | Orders stay pending until the partner store approves them. For travel and events, partners typically approve within about 3 months after the trip or event. |
| Fluzsource | Bank transfer (ACH), PayPal or Venmo, or spent in the app on more gift cards. Without a US bank account, PayPal or Venmo. | $15 in lifetime earnings once, then $1 per withdrawal. | Instant. The cashback lands in the Fluz balance when the gift card is bought. |
| ShopBacksource | PayPal or a US bank account via ACH, once the balance clears the minimum. | $5 of Confirmed Cashback on ShopBack's payment-methods and clear-time guides; its withdraw how-to says $10. | Pending within 48 hours of checkout, then Confirmed once the partner store's claim time has been fulfilled: usually a few weeks for retail, after trip completion for travel. |
| Raisesource | Raise Cash, posted to your Raise account each time you buy a gift card. It's redeemed at checkout on Raise toward any gift card or other product Raise sells, and Raise's catalogue includes a Prepaid Mastercard. Raise doesn't offer cash distribution, bank transfers or PayPal transfers. | None to redeem; Raise applies it at your next checkout. Gift cards must be bought for at least $5, and with more than $1,000 in Raise Cash on hand you have to redeem some before earning more. | Posted to the Raise account when the gift card is bought, and rescinded if that purchase is refunded or cancelled for any reason. |
| Rakutensource | Big Fat Check by mail, PayPal, American Express Membership Rewards points, or Bilt. A confirmed balance of $5.00 or more can also be redeemed as a gift card within minutes. | $5.01 in confirmed cash back before the payment date; $5.00 or less carries over to the next one. | 3 to 14 weeks for online and in-store purchases; 45 to 120 days for travel. |
| MaxRebatessource | Check or PayPal, in US dollars, and sometimes other options such as a donation to charity. | $10.00 per payment, with a $2,000.00 maximum. | Pending for 90 days to cover store return policies, cancellations and commission collection; it often takes up to 90 days for cash back to become payable, depending on the product and the merchant. |
| Mr. Rebatessource | A rebate check by mail, or payment via PayPal, Venmo or an Amazon gift card. | $10 in Available Rebates. | Rebates post to Pending within 1 to 3 business days of the order or ship date, then stay Pending for 90 days from the posting date before moving to Available. |
| RebatesMesource | PayPal, credit card, Alipay, check or gift cards. | $10 in available cash back, not counting bonuses. | Cash back becomes available after the 90-day return window. |
| Sunshine Rewardssource | PayPal, or gift cards from time to time through the Redemption Center. | 20.00 in credits, and the account has to be at least 45 days old. Cashouts are capped at $500 a month. | Earnings should post within 10 days. Sale credits are then held: 28 days per the help page, 21 days from the date of purchase per the terms page. |
| TopCashbacksource | Bank transfer, Venmo, PayPal, gift cards, a Virtual Visa Prepaid Card or an American Express Virtual Reward Card. | None for PayPal, Venmo or bank transfer; some gift cards have one. | No fixed window. Cash back goes pending, then confirmed once the retailer reviews the order, then payable once the retailer's network is invoiced. TopCashback prints an estimated payout speed on each merchant's page. |
| Extrabuxsource | PayPal, eGift cards, ACH bank deposit (US only), check (US only), or a donation to a charity. | $10 available balance, with at least one confirmed purchase carrying more than $1 in available cash back. | Usually tracked within 1 to 7 days of purchase, then held through a 90-day window for returns or cancellations at most stores before it becomes available. |
| CouponFollowsource | PayPal; a valid US PayPal account has to be connected to CouponFollow. | An Available Balance of at least $10. | Pending for up to 60 days, to ensure a purchase isn't returned or refunded. |
| GoCashBacksource | PayPal, check, gift card (US only) or Helipay. | $10 in withdrawable cash back, not counting sign-up, referral or activity bonuses for the first withdrawal. | It can take up to 120 days for cash back to become available. |
| Price.comsource | Debit card deposit, PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, gift cards, a donation to charity, or crypto. | $10 per withdrawal, with a $500 cap per withdrawal and per day. | Typically 30 to 90 days: pending until the retailer confirms the purchase and its return period ends. |
| RetailMeNotsource | PayPal or Venmo, from the RetailMeNot account. | A minimum approved balance of $5.01 is required for a redemption. | In about 45 days the cash back lands in the RetailMeNot account as redeemable. |
Does Chewy have its own cashback or rewards program?
Yes, two things wear Chewy's own name, and neither is a click-through rate. Autoship is a discount on recurring orders, free to set up; Chewy+ is a paid membership with its own rewards points. Chewy's own pages refused every read this session, so what follows is sourced to the portals' editorial rather than Chewy's own text, and each line says which one.
- Autoship, the recurring-order discount. Rakuten's FAQ: "What is Chewy autoship? Autoship is a great way to make sure you're getting the best deal on all your Chewy necessities. Just select the items you purchase regularly, proceed to checkout and click 'Yes' on the autoship option at checkout. You'll then set your schedule and place your recurring order." source. Its editorial names the size of the discount: "your products will be shipped to your door with Autoship, saving an extra 5% on each Autoship order." source. It's free to use, tied to your account rather than a membership fee.
- Chewy+ Rewards, the $79 membership. TopCashback's editorial: "Pet owners can save even more by joining Chewy+ rewards. The paid membership program costs $79 per year and lets you earn rewards points when you shop, which you can use toward a future Chewy purchase." source. Its stated perks: "Free shipping with no minimum purchase", "5% rewards on every order", "Exclusive offers, discounts, freebies and more" source, and a trial door, "You can do a 30-day free trial to see if Chewy+ is for you or not." source. This is a points balance you spend at Chewy later, not cash back paid out.
- Free shipping, apart from either program. Rakuten's editorial names the threshold: "Free shipping: Orders over $49" source.
Put together: Autoship is the discount most orders will actually use, Chewy+ is a bigger commitment that pays for itself on volume, and neither is a click-through rate, so a portal's cashback stacks with both rather than competing with them.
What Chewy cashback stacks with
The short version: Rakuten, TopCashback and Price.com, the three click-through portals whose Chewy terms this page quotes, all pay on a normal order, and all three carve out the same three things: pet prescriptions, gift cards, and (worded differently at each) the app or repeat Autoship orders. Fluz sells its own Chewy gift card, a separate mechanism that pays for buying the card rather than for a tracked click.
| Layer | Stacks with portal cashback? | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Autoship, the initial order | Yes, at Rakuten by name; TopCashback warns it can matter | Rakuten's FAQ: "Can I earn Cash Back on Chewy Autoship orders? Cash Back is available on your initial Autoship order" source. TopCashback's exclusions list is vaguer: "Purchases using Auto Ship can impact Cash Back eligibility." source, without saying which orders. Price.com's Chewy terms don't mention Autoship either way source. |
| Autoship, repeat orders | No, at Rakuten by name | "Cash Back is not available on Autoship orders after initial order." source. A repeat shipment also has no fresh click in front of it, which is the more general reason a subscription order rarely tracks anywhere. |
| Chewy+ membership and its rewards points | Yes for the perks, unclear for the fee | None of the three portals' Chewy terms name the $79 fee or the points program, so we can't tell you whether the membership charge itself earns cashback; the free shipping and 5% Chewy+ discount are Chewy's own and stack with a portal click the same way Autoship's discount does. |
| Chewy promo codes | Depends where the code came from | TopCashback excludes "Use of a coupon code not displayed on TopCashback." source. Neither Rakuten's nor Price.com's Chewy terms address codes from elsewhere source source, so the safe move at either is to stick to what's on the portal's own page. |
| The Chewy app | No, at TopCashback by name | "Purchases made through the mobile app are not eligible for cash back" source. Neither Rakuten's nor Price.com's terms mention the app source source. |
| Pet prescriptions | No, at all three | Rakuten: "Cash Back is not available on Pet prescriptions" source. TopCashback: "Purchases of gift cards and Rx products." source. Price.com: "No Cash Back for prescription products, gift cards and Pharmacy." source. |
| Gift cards, including the Fluz card | No, at Rakuten, TopCashback and Price.com | Rakuten excludes "Gift Cards" source, TopCashback "Purchases of gift cards" source, Price.com "gift cards" source, all as things you buy. A Fluz Chewy card is a gift card (Fluz lists the issuer as Chewy), so it's one route or the other on a given order, never both. Fluz's own cashback lands when you buy the card, before Chewy sees the order. |
| A second portal | Never | Only one tracking click gets credit; the pillar guide explains why the last click wins. |
Chewy cashback exclusions and what breaks tracking
The three portals agree on the shape of what's excluded, prescriptions and gift cards, and disagree only on how they treat Autoship and the app.
- Rakuten's exclusions and terms. "Cash Back is not available on Pet prescriptions, Flea & Tick Products or Gift Cards. Cash Back is not available on Autoship orders after initial order." source. Posting is fast: "Cash Back will be automatically added to your Rakuten account today." source. Payout: "Rakuten pays out Cash Back via check, PayPal or American Express Membership Rewards points every three months" source.
- TopCashback's exclusions and terms. "Purchases of gift cards and Rx products. Purchases made through the mobile app are not eligible for cash back Purchases using Auto Ship can impact Cash Back eligibility. Use of a coupon code not displayed on TopCashback." source. Terms: "Cash Back is calculated only on the item(s) price and does not include taxes, shipping or other fees." "Should your Cash Back fail to track automatically, please submit a Missing Cash Back Claim within 14 days of your order." source. Its Safari warning: "With this Safari browser, we cannot guarantee that your Cash Back will track for this retailer. Please use an alternative browser on your device (e.g. Chrome) to get Cash Back." source.
- Price.com. "No Cash Back for prescription products, gift cards and Pharmacy." source. Timing: "Purchases will typically show in your wallet as pending in 1 day." and "Cash Back will be added to your wallet in approximately 90 days." source.
- Fluz's card limits. Cards run "from $20–$500" and are "redeemable online only" source. The spec block: "Non-refundable", "Does not expire", "Non-reloadable" source. Terms printed on the page: "This Chewy Gift Card has no fees and does not expire. Not transferrable and not redeemable for cash except where required by law; no refunds or returns." source.
- What Chewy's own pages could not confirm. Every path into chewy.com's own Autoship and Chewy+ pages returned HTTP 429 this session, on both a direct fetch and a separately rendered read, so the program section above rests entirely on the portals' editorial. Whether the 5% Autoship discount and the 5% Chewy+ reward are the same 5% or stack on top of each other isn't stated on either portal's page, and we don't turn silence into a yes.
What breaks tracking at any store, Chewy included (the pillar guide has the portals' own wording on each):
- A second coupon or cashback extension that fires after the one you're earning with, so its click is the last one Chewy sees.
- Starting on one device and finishing on another, including clicking through on a laptop and buying in the Chewy app, which TopCashback rules out by name.
- Ad blockers, cookie blocking, and on TopCashback's own warning, Safari.
- A repeat Autoship shipment rather than the first order, at Rakuten by name.
- Paying with a gift card, or buying one, at all three portals.
- A return, an exchange or a cancellation, which reverses the commission the cashback was going to be paid from.

How these Chewy numbers were produced
- Read directly from each portal's own merchant page, never copied from another comparison site.
- A rate we could not read is reported as unread. It is never converted into a zero, and a failed check never overwrites a previously good number.
- "Up to" and new-customer-only rates are labelled as such and are not allowed to win the top spot over a lower rate that everyone actually gets.
Chewy cashback FAQ
Which portal pays the most for Chewy cashback right now?
BeFrugal, at 6%. That's the rate a returning shopper gets, which is how the table ranks: an "up to" ceiling or a new-customer rate never takes this spot over a lower rate everyone gets.
How long does Chewy cashback take to pay out?
On a click-through portal there are two waits, one after the other: the portal has to confirm the order with Chewy, which mostly tracks Chewy's return window, and then the confirmed balance has to be paid out, which is the portal's own rule. Buying Chewy's gift card through a portal skips the first wait: that cashback is paid when the card is bought.
- BeFrugal: Verified cash back sits in the account for 30 to 90 days, set by the retailer's return policy and its payment cycle with BeFrugal. Store pages say cash back is typically available for payment 15 to 60 days after purchase. Payout: On request. Most payouts are sent on the next business day after the request.
- Active Junky: Orders stay pending until the partner store approves them. For travel and events, partners typically approve within about 3 months after the trip or event. Payout: On the 20th of each month, or the next business day when the 20th falls on a weekend or holiday.
- Fluz: Instant. The cashback lands in the Fluz balance when the gift card is bought. Payout: On request; 2 to 7 business days. Fluz charges no fee, but passes on any transfer fee it's charged.
- ShopBack: Pending within 48 hours of checkout, then Confirmed once the partner store's claim time has been fulfilled: usually a few weeks for retail, after trip completion for travel. Payout: On request. Typically processed within 10 calendar days (up to 30 in some cases), with a $300 daily withdrawal limit.
- Raise: Posted to the Raise account when the gift card is bought, and rescinded if that purchase is refunded or cancelled for any reason. Payout: Posted on each gift-card purchase. Raise Cash expires 180 days after the day it was earned.
- Rakuten: 3 to 14 weeks for online and in-store purchases; 45 to 120 days for travel. Payout: Every three months: February 15, May 15, August 15 and November 15.
- MaxRebates: Pending for 90 days to cover store return policies, cancellations and commission collection; it often takes up to 90 days for cash back to become payable, depending on the product and the merchant. Payout: On request, once the cash back is payable. A PayPal payout should arrive within 7 to 14 business days.
- Mr. Rebates: Rebates post to Pending within 1 to 3 business days of the order or ship date, then stay Pending for 90 days from the posting date before moving to Available. Payout: On request, once $10 in Available Rebates has accrued.
- RebatesMe: Cash back becomes available after the 90-day return window.
- Sunshine Rewards: Earnings should post within 10 days. Sale credits are then held: 28 days per the help page, 21 days from the date of purchase per the terms page. Payout: Twice a month, on request: a cashout requested from the 1st through the 15th is paid on the 15th of the next month, and one requested from the 16th through the last day is paid on the last day of the next month.
- TopCashback: No fixed window. Cash back goes pending, then confirmed once the retailer reviews the order, then payable once the retailer's network is invoiced. TopCashback prints an estimated payout speed on each merchant's page. Payout: On request, once the cash back is payable. Adding bank, PayPal or Venmo details puts a 72-hour hold on the account first.
- Extrabux: Usually tracked within 1 to 7 days of purchase, then held through a 90-day window for returns or cancellations at most stores before it becomes available. Payout: On request. Requests are processed within 3 business days; PayPal and eGift cards typically land within 24 to 48 hours after that, ACH takes about 5 business days, and a check 1 to 2 weeks by post.
- CouponFollow: Pending for up to 60 days, to ensure a purchase isn't returned or refunded. Payout: Monthly: paid on the 25th to the linked PayPal account, arriving by month end; rewards earned on or after the 25th roll to the next month.
- GoCashBack: It can take up to 120 days for cash back to become available. Payout: On request. A payment request is processed within 7 to 14 business days.
- Price.com: Typically 30 to 90 days: pending until the retailer confirms the purchase and its return period ends. Payout: On request, once the cash back is approved.
- RetailMeNot: In about 45 days the cash back lands in the RetailMeNot account as redeemable. Payout: On request, once the cash back is approved in the account.
Is there a minimum payout?
- BeFrugal: $0.01 for PayPal or direct deposit; $25 for a check.
- Active Junky: None stated for the monthly payout. Cashing out early as a gift card takes $5.01 in approved cash back.
- Fluz: $15 in lifetime earnings once, then $1 per withdrawal.
- ShopBack: $5 of Confirmed Cashback on ShopBack's payment-methods and clear-time guides; its withdraw how-to says $10.
- Raise: None to redeem; Raise applies it at your next checkout. Gift cards must be bought for at least $5, and with more than $1,000 in Raise Cash on hand you have to redeem some before earning more.
- Rakuten: $5.01 in confirmed cash back before the payment date; $5.00 or less carries over to the next one.
- MaxRebates: $10.00 per payment, with a $2,000.00 maximum.
- Mr. Rebates: $10 in Available Rebates.
- RebatesMe: $10 in available cash back, not counting bonuses.
- Sunshine Rewards: 20.00 in credits, and the account has to be at least 45 days old. Cashouts are capped at $500 a month.
- TopCashback: None for PayPal, Venmo or bank transfer; some gift cards have one.
- Extrabux: $10 available balance, with at least one confirmed purchase carrying more than $1 in available cash back.
- CouponFollow: An Available Balance of at least $10.
- GoCashBack: $10 in withdrawable cash back, not counting sign-up, referral or activity bonuses for the first withdrawal.
- Price.com: $10 per withdrawal, with a $500 cap per withdrawal and per day.
- RetailMeNot: A minimum approved balance of $5.01 is required for a redemption.
Does Chewy cashback work on Autoship orders?
Only the first one, and only confirmed at one portal. Rakuten's FAQ says plainly, "Cash Back is available on your initial Autoship order" source, and separately excludes "Autoship orders after initial order" source, so the first shipment tracks and every repeat one doesn't. TopCashback's page is less specific: "Purchases using Auto Ship can impact Cash Back eligibility." source, without saying whether that means the first order, every order, or something else, so treat it as untested there rather than safe. Price.com's Chewy terms don't mention Autoship at all source.
Is Chewy+ worth it for the rewards?
That depends on how much you'd spend anyway, and neither portal here has a rate for the fee itself. TopCashback's editorial describes it as "$79 per year" for "Free shipping with no minimum purchase", "5% rewards on every order" and "Exclusive offers, discounts, freebies and more" source, with a "30-day free trial" to test it source. None of that is stated on Chewy's own pages in this pass, since every path into chewy.com returned HTTP 429. The 5% reward is Chewy's own points, not portal cashback, so it adds to whatever a portal pays on the same order rather than replacing it.
Do gift cards ever earn cashback at Chewy?
Not from a portal, but the Fluz card is itself a gift card, which is a different question. Rakuten excludes "Gift Cards" source, TopCashback excludes "Purchases of gift cards" source, and Price.com excludes "gift cards" source. Fluz's own product pays for buying its "$20–$500" gift card source, which is the cashback landing at the moment of purchase rather than at checkout, so it isn't affected by the other three portals' gift-card exclusions; it also isn't stackable with any of them on the same order, since paying with that card at Chewy is exactly the purchase type all three portals exclude.
Does Chewy cashback work in the Chewy app?
Not at TopCashback, which excludes it by name: "Purchases made through the mobile app are not eligible for cash back" source. Neither Rakuten's nor Price.com's Chewy terms mention the app either way source source, so treat it as untested rather than safe at those two. The click has to happen in the browser that checks out.
Is there a minimum order for Chewy cashback?
None of Rakuten's, TopCashback's or Price.com's Chewy pages states one. All three pay on the item price only: TopCashback excludes "taxes, shipping or other fees" source, and neither Rakuten's nor Price.com's terms mention shipping being included source source. The threshold you'll actually feel is Chewy's own free-shipping line, "Orders over $49" per Rakuten's editorial source, which is a shipping fee waiver, not cashback. Fluz's card starts at "$20" source, the floor on that route. Payout minimums are per portal, in the questions above.
