Groupon Cashback: Every Portal's Rate, Compared
The best Groupon cashback we found is 10% at RetailMeNot, read from RetailMeNot's own Groupon page.

Rates move without notice, so treat anything more than a couple of days old as worth re-checking at the portal before you shop.
How to get Groupon cashback, step by step
- Open RetailMeNot's Groupon page and click through to Groupon from there. That click is what ties the order to your account, so start every Groupon order this way rather than from a bookmark or a search result. The rate as we last read it was 10%.
- Shop in that same tab and session. Don't leave for a coupon site and come back, and turn off any other cashback or coupon extension before you check out: the last click before the order is the one that gets credited, and another extension's click can take it.
- Check out in one go, using only codes RetailMeNot itself shows for Groupon. A code from somewhere else can void the cashback on many stores.
- Wait for it to confirm. In about 45 days the cash back lands in the RetailMeNot account as redeemable. Returning part of the order, or cancelling it, changes what gets paid.
- Get paid. RetailMeNot pays by: PayPal or Venmo, from the RetailMeNot account. Minimum: A minimum approved balance of $5.01 is required for a redemption. Timing: On request, once the cash back is approved in the account.
Getting paid, portal by portal
Each portal's own help pages, as written there. The source link on each row goes to the page it came from. These are the portal's terms, not Groupon's.
| Portal | Paid by | Minimum | Confirmation window |
|---|---|---|---|
| RetailMeNotsource | PayPal or Venmo, from the RetailMeNot account. | A minimum approved balance of $5.01 is required for a redemption. | In about 45 days the cash back lands in the RetailMeNot account as redeemable. |
| Fluzsource | Bank transfer (ACH), PayPal or Venmo, or spent in the app on more gift cards. Without a US bank account, PayPal or Venmo. | $15 in lifetime earnings once, then $1 per withdrawal. | Instant. The cashback lands in the Fluz balance when the gift card is bought. |
| MaxRebatessource | Check or PayPal, in US dollars, and sometimes other options such as a donation to charity. | $10.00 per payment, with a $2,000.00 maximum. | Pending for 90 days to cover store return policies, cancellations and commission collection; it often takes up to 90 days for cash back to become payable, depending on the product and the merchant. |
| Raisesource | Raise Cash, posted to your Raise account each time you buy a gift card. It's redeemed at checkout on Raise toward any gift card or other product Raise sells, and Raise's catalogue includes a Prepaid Mastercard. Raise doesn't offer cash distribution, bank transfers or PayPal transfers. | None to redeem; Raise applies it at your next checkout. Gift cards must be bought for at least $5, and with more than $1,000 in Raise Cash on hand you have to redeem some before earning more. | Posted to the Raise account when the gift card is bought, and rescinded if that purchase is refunded or cancelled for any reason. |
| Price.comsource | Debit card deposit, PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, gift cards, a donation to charity, or crypto. | $10 per withdrawal, with a $500 cap per withdrawal and per day. | Typically 30 to 90 days: pending until the retailer confirms the purchase and its return period ends. |
| Hoopla Dooplasource | Check, Venmo or PayPal. | $5.00 in approved cash back per period, for PayPal, Venmo and paper checks alike. A balance under that carries over to the next period. | Usually posts within 10 days of purchase, then becomes yours after 90 days. |
| Rakutensource | Big Fat Check by mail, PayPal, American Express Membership Rewards points, or Bilt. A confirmed balance of $5.00 or more can also be redeemed as a gift card within minutes. | $5.01 in confirmed cash back before the payment date; $5.00 or less carries over to the next one. | 3 to 14 weeks for online and in-store purchases; 45 to 120 days for travel. |
| RebatesMesource | PayPal, credit card, Alipay, check or gift cards. | $10 in available cash back, not counting bonuses. | Cash back becomes available after the 90-day return window. |
| Active Junkysource | Check, PayPal, Venmo or a credit/debit card. Approved cash back can also be cashed out early as a gift card. | None stated for the monthly payout. For travel and events, partners typically approve within about 3 months after the trip or event. |
| Mr. Rebatessource | A rebate check by mail, or payment via PayPal, Venmo or an Amazon gift card. | $10 in Available Rebates. | Rebates post to Pending within 1 to 3 business days of the order or ship date, then stay Pending for 90 days from the posting date before moving to Available. |

Store pages say cash back is typically available for payment 15 to 60 days after purchase. |
| GoCashBacksource | PayPal, check, gift card (US only) or Helipay. | $10 in withdrawable cash back, not counting sign-up, referral or activity bonuses for the first withdrawal. | It can take up to 120 days for cash back to become available. |

| ShopBacksource | PayPal or a US bank account via ACH, once the balance clears the minimum. | $5 of Confirmed Cashback on ShopBack's payment-methods and clear-time guides; its withdraw how-to says $10. | Pending within 48 hours of checkout, then Confirmed once the partner store's claim time has been fulfilled: usually a few weeks for retail, after trip completion for travel. |

| MyPointssource | Points, redeemed for gift cards, travel miles or cash via PayPal. | At least 480 available Points to redeem (MyPoints blog, 2019). | Not verified yet |
Does Groupon have its own cashback or rewards program?
Not the way a single-brand retailer does. Groupon is a deals marketplace, so the closer question is how a Groupon voucher itself works, plus two named extras, Groupon+ and Groupon Bucks, that Rakuten's terms confirm are real even though groupon.com refused every path this session (HTTP 403 on the bare homepage, curl and a separately rendered read both).
- What you're actually buying. Price.com's editorial: "a popular online marketplace connecting consumers with discounted vouchers for local experiences, travel getaways, live events, and everyday retail goods" source. TopCashback's editorial adds what you actually get: "After purchasing a deal, you'll receive a digital voucher that can typically be redeemed in store, online or by booking an appointment, depending on the offer. Each deal includes redemption instructions, expiration dates and any restrictions" source.
- What an expired voucher is still worth. Rakuten's editorial has the one fact worth knowing before you let a Groupon lapse: "It depends on the Groupon. Often you can still redeem it for the amount you paid. If you paid $30 for a $90 voucher, for example, you would be able to redeem it for $30 on your services. It's best to check the fine print for each Groupon before you buy it." source.
- Groupon+ and Groupon Bucks are real, confirmed only through Rakuten's exclusions. Its terms exclude "Groupon+ purchases" and "the portion paid for with Groupon Bucks" source by name, which is the only first-party-adjacent confirmation we have that either exists, since groupon.com itself couldn't be read. Neither TopCashback's nor Price.com's Groupon terms mention either one source source, so we can't tell you what Groupon+ costs or how Groupon Bucks are earned, only that spending either one costs you Rakuten's cashback on that portion.
- An email-signup discount, not a membership. TopCashback: "Score a discount on your first order from Groupon when you subscribe to its promotional emails." source.
Put together: the real "program" here is the voucher mechanic itself, redemption windows and the pay-what-you-paid fallback after expiration, plus two named extras we can only describe from the outside. None of it is portal cashback, so a portal click stacks with all of it.
What Groupon cashback stacks with
The short version: Rakuten, TopCashback and Price.com, the three portals whose Groupon terms this page quotes, all pay, and all three carve the marketplace up by category rather than storewide. Fluz sells its own Groupon gift card, a separate mechanism that pays for buying the card rather than for a tracked click.
| Layer | Stacks with portal cashback? | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Groupon+ | No, at Rakuten by name | Rakuten excludes "Groupon+ purchases" source. Neither TopCashback's nor Price.com's Groupon terms mention it source source, so treat it as untested there rather than safe. |
| Spending Groupon Bucks | No, at Rakuten by name | "the portion paid for with Groupon Bucks" is excluded source. Neither of the other two portals' Groupon terms address it source source. |
| A promotional-email discount | Yes, it's Groupon's own discount, not a portal mechanism | TopCashback's editorial names it, "a discount on your first order from Groupon when you subscribe to its promotional emails" source; nothing about signing up for emails touches a portal click. |
| Costco Membership Deal, Amusement Park Tickets and Carnival Cruises | Yes, at Rakuten, confirmed rather than assumed excluded | Rakuten's terms specifically confirm these: "Costco Membership Deal, Amusement Park Tickets, and Carnival Cruises will earn 2% Cash Back." source, stated ahead of its exclusions list, as if to head off the assumption that a membership deal or a cruise wouldn't count. |
| The Groupon app | No, at TopCashback by name | "purchases made through Groupon's app are not eligible for Cash Back" source. Neither Rakuten's nor Price.com's Groupon terms mention the app source source. |
| Deals sold through third-party websites | No, at Rakuten by name | "deals that are sold and fulfilled through third-party websites" are excluded source. |
| Gift cards, including the Fluz card | No, at Rakuten by name | Rakuten excludes "gift cards" source. Neither TopCashback's nor Price.com's Groupon terms name gift cards specifically source source. A Fluz Groupon card is a gift card, though its issuer is a third party rather than Groupon itself (covered below), so buying one and clicking through Rakuten is a pick-one on a given order at minimum. |
| A second portal | Never | Only one tracking click gets credit; the pillar guide explains why the last click wins. |
Groupon cashback exclusions and what breaks tracking
All three portals pay by category rather than storewide, and Rakuten's exclusions list is the longest because it names the most Groupon-specific mechanics.
- Rakuten's categories, exclusions and terms. Categories: "Beauty, Spa, Health and Fitness", "Local Activities and Dining", "Things To Do" source. Named as earning despite sounding excludable: "Costco Membership Deal, Amusement Park Tickets, and Carnival Cruises will earn 2% Cash Back." source. Exclusions: "Cash Back is not available on goods, deals that are sold and fulfilled through third-party websites, gift cards, Market Picks, Groupon+ purchases, purchases made using Student Program Discounts, or the portion paid for with Groupon Bucks." source. Special terms worth knowing: "Cash Back on orders placed via guest checkout may take up to 10 days to post to your account. Hotel Orders: first night Cash Back reported at booking, remainder after hotel stay is completed. Groupon Getaway purchases made through Groupon site will receive the Groupon Travel Cash Back rate." source.
- TopCashback's exclusions and terms. The only named exclusion: "Use of a coupon code not displayed on TopCashback." source. Separately, its editorial states the app exclusion: "purchases made through Groupon's app are not eligible for Cash Back" source. Standard terms: "Cash Back is calculated only on the item(s) price and does not include taxes, shipping or other fees." source.
- Price.com's category gate. "Cash back is available only on Hotels & Travel, Goods, and Local Services." source, an inclusion list rather than an exclusion list, meaning anything not on it earns nothing. Timing: "Purchases will typically show in your wallet as pending in 9 hours." and "Cash Back will be added to your wallet in approximately 90 days." source.
- Fluz's card limits, and who actually issues it. Cards run "from $10–$200" and are "redeemable online only" source. The spec block: "Non-refundable", "Does not expire", "Non-reloadable" source. The printed card terms name a third party as the actual issuer: "CARDCO CX, Inc. is the card issuer" source, not Groupon itself, the same shape as some other merchants' Fluz cards on this site where the issuer is a separate company from the brand on the card.
- Groupon's own return policy, sourced to the portals since groupon.com couldn't be read. TopCashback's editorial: "Most local deals can be refunded to your original payment method within three days of purchase if the voucher hasn't been redeemed and no appointment has been scheduled. Groupon Goods follow the individual merchant's return policy, while travel deals and event tickets have their own cancellation terms. Some purchases are marked as Final Sale and aren't eligible for refunds, so it's important to review the deal's terms before completing your purchase." source. Price.com's summary agrees on the shape: "Unredeemed local vouchers generally qualify for a full refund within three days of purchase. Most Groupon Goods physical items can be returned within 30 days of delivery" source.
What breaks tracking at any store, Groupon included (the pillar guide has the portals' own wording on each):
- A second coupon or cashback extension that fires after the one you're earning with, so its click is the last one Groupon sees.
- Starting on one device and finishing on another, including clicking through on a laptop and buying in the Groupon app, which TopCashback rules out entirely.
- Buying through a third-party website rather than Groupon's own checkout, at Rakuten.
- Paying part of an order with Groupon Bucks, or buying a Groupon+ subscription, at Rakuten.
- Paying with a gift card, or buying one, at Rakuten.
- A return, an exchange or a cancellation, which reverses the commission the cashback was going to be paid from.

How these Groupon numbers were produced
- Read directly from each portal's own merchant page, never copied from another comparison site.
- A rate we could not read is reported as unread. It is never converted into a zero, and a failed check never overwrites a previously good number.
- "Up to" and new-customer-only rates are labelled as such and are not allowed to win the top spot over a lower rate that everyone actually gets.
Groupon cashback FAQ
Which portal pays the most for Groupon cashback right now?
RetailMeNot, at 10%. That's the rate a returning shopper gets, which is how the table ranks: an "up to" ceiling or a new-customer rate never takes this spot over a lower rate everyone gets.
How long does Groupon cashback take to pay out?
On a click-through portal there are two waits, one after the other: the portal has to confirm the order with Groupon, which mostly tracks Groupon's return window, and then the confirmed balance has to be paid out, which is the portal's own rule. Buying Groupon's gift card through a portal skips the first wait: that cashback is paid when the card is bought.
- RetailMeNot: In about 45 days the cash back lands in the RetailMeNot account as redeemable. Payout: On request, once the cash back is approved in the account.
- Fluz: Instant. The cashback lands in the Fluz balance when the gift card is bought. Payout: On request; 2 to 7 business days. Fluz charges no fee, but passes on any transfer fee it's charged.
- MaxRebates: Pending for 90 days to cover store return policies, cancellations and commission collection; it often takes up to 90 days for cash back to become payable, depending on the product and the merchant. Payout: On request, once the cash back is payable. A PayPal payout should arrive within 7 to 14 business days.
- Raise: Posted to the Raise account when the gift card is bought, and rescinded if that purchase is refunded or cancelled for any reason. Payout: Posted on each gift-card purchase. Raise Cash expires 180 days after the day it was earned.
- Price.com: Typically 30 to 90 days: pending until the retailer confirms the purchase and its return period ends. Payout: On request, once the cash back is approved.
- Hoopla Doopla: Usually posts within 10 days of purchase, then becomes yours after 90 days. Payout: Every three months. Payments go out by the end of January, April, July and October to everyone who qualifies.
- Rakuten: 3 to 14 weeks for online and in-store purchases; 45 to 120 days for travel. Payout: Every three months: February 15, May 15, August 15 and November 15.
- RebatesMe: Cash back becomes available after the 90-day return window.
- Active Junky: Orders stay pending until the partner store approves them. For travel and events, partners typically approve within about 3 months after the trip or event. Payout: On the 20th of each month, or the next business day when the 20th falls on a weekend or holiday.
- Mr. Rebates: Rebates post to Pending within 1 to 3 business days of the order or ship date, then stay Pending for 90 days from the posting date before moving to Available. Payout: On request, once $10 in Available Rebates has accrued.
- BeFrugal: Verified cash back sits in the account for 30 to 90 days, set by the retailer's return policy and its payment cycle with BeFrugal. Store pages say cash back is typically available for payment 15 to 60 days after purchase. Payout: On request. Most payouts are sent on the next business day after the request.
- GoCashBack: It can take up to 120 days for cash back to become available. Payout: On request. A payment request is processed within 7 to 14 business days.
- TopCashback: No fixed window. Cash back goes pending, then confirmed once the retailer reviews the order, then payable once the retailer's network is invoiced. TopCashback prints an estimated payout speed on each merchant's page. Payout: On request, once the cash back is payable. Adding bank, PayPal or Venmo details puts a 72-hour hold on the account first.
- Extrabux: Usually tracked within 1 to 7 days of purchase, then held through a 90-day window for returns or cancellations at most stores before it becomes available. Payout: On request. Requests are processed within 3 business days; PayPal and eGift cards typically land within 24 to 48 hours after that, ACH takes about 5 business days, and a check 1 to 2 weeks by post.
- ShopBack: Pending within 48 hours of checkout, then Confirmed once the partner store's claim time has been fulfilled: usually a few weeks for retail, after trip completion for travel. Payout: On request. Typically processed within 10 calendar days (up to 30 in some cases), with a $300 daily withdrawal limit.
- CouponFollow: Pending for up to 60 days, to ensure a purchase isn't returned or refunded. Payout: Monthly: paid on the 25th to the linked PayPal account, arriving by month end; rewards earned on or after the 25th roll to the next month.
- MyPoints: No confirmation window we have verified. Payout: On redemption. Some rewards are delivered immediately; others may take up to 10 business days to process.

- Fluz: $15 in lifetime earnings once, then $1 per withdrawal.
- MaxRebates: $10.00 per payment, with a $2,000.00 maximum.
- Raise: None to redeem; Raise applies it at your next checkout. Gift cards must be bought for at least $5, and with more than $1,000 in Raise Cash on hand you have to redeem some before earning more.
- Price.com: $10 per withdrawal, with a $500 cap per withdrawal and per day.
- Hoopla Doopla: $5.00 in approved cash back per period, for PayPal, Venmo and paper checks alike. A balance under that carries over to the next period.
- Rakuten: $5.01 in confirmed cash back before the payment date; $5.00 or less carries over to the next one.
- RebatesMe: $10 in available cash back, not counting bonuses.

- Mr. Rebates: $10 in Available Rebates.
- BeFrugal: $0.01 for PayPal or direct deposit; $25 for a check.
- GoCashBack: $10 in withdrawable cash back, not counting sign-up, referral or activity bonuses for the first withdrawal.
- TopCashback: None for PayPal, Venmo or bank transfer; some gift cards have one.
- Extrabux: $10 available balance, with at least one confirmed purchase carrying more than $1 in available cash back.
- ShopBack: $5 of Confirmed Cashback on ShopBack's payment-methods and clear-time guides; its withdraw how-to says $10.

What happens if I don't redeem a Groupon before it expires?
You usually don't lose the whole thing. Rakuten's editorial: "It depends on the Groupon. Often you can still redeem it for the amount you paid. If you paid $30 for a $90 voucher, for example, you would be able to redeem it for $30 on your services. It's best to check the fine print for each Groupon before you buy it." source. That's Groupon's own fine print doing the work, not a portal policy, so it applies whichever portal, if any, you clicked through.
Do Groupon+ and Groupon Bucks stack with portal cashback?
No, at Rakuten, by name. It excludes "Groupon+ purchases" and separately "the portion paid for with Groupon Bucks" source. We can't tell you what Groupon+ costs or how you earn Groupon Bucks, since groupon.com refused every path tried this session and neither TopCashback's nor Price.com's Groupon terms mention either program source source.
Does Groupon cashback work in the Groupon app?
Not at TopCashback, which excludes it outright: "purchases made through Groupon's app are not eligible for Cash Back" source. Neither Rakuten's nor Price.com's Groupon terms mention the app either way source source, so treat it as untested rather than safe at those two. The click has to happen in the browser that checks out.
Do gift cards ever earn cashback at Groupon?
Not from a portal, but the Fluz card is itself a gift card, issued by a company other than Groupon, which is a different question. Rakuten excludes "gift cards" source. Fluz's own product pays for buying its "$10–$200" gift card source, which is the cashback landing at the moment of purchase rather than at checkout, so it isn't affected by Rakuten's gift-card exclusion; it also isn't stackable with Rakuten on the same order, since paying with that card is exactly the purchase type Rakuten excludes.
Is there a minimum order for Groupon cashback?
None of Rakuten's, TopCashback's or Price.com's Groupon pages states one. All three pay on the item price only: TopCashback excludes "taxes, shipping or other fees" source, and neither Rakuten's nor Price.com's terms mention shipping being included source source. Fluz's card starts at "$10" source, the floor on that route. Payout minimums are per portal, in the questions above.
