Petco Cashback: Every Portal's Rate, Compared
The best Petco cashback we found is 12% at Fluz, read from Fluz's own Petco page.

How to get Petco cashback, step by step
- Open Fluz's Petco page and buy a gift card for the amount of your Petco order. The rate as we last read it was 12%. Instant. The cashback lands in the Fluz balance when the gift card is bought.
- Pay for your Petco order with that gift card, the same way you'd use any Petco gift card.
- Buy only what you'll spend. The cashback is paid when you buy the card, and a card balance you never use is money parked at Petco, not savings.
- Get paid. Fluz pays by: Bank transfer (ACH), PayPal or Venmo, or spent in the app on more gift cards. Without a US bank account, PayPal or Venmo. Minimum: $15 in lifetime earnings once, then $1 per withdrawal. Timing: On request; 2 to 7 business days. Fluz charges no fee, but passes on any transfer fee it's charged.
Getting paid, portal by portal
Each portal's own help pages, as written there. The source link on each row goes to the page it came from. These are the portal's terms, not Petco's.

Does Petco have its own cashback or rewards program?
Yes, and the portals don't fully agree on what to call it, which is worth knowing before you go looking for it on Petco's own site. petco.com refused every path this session (HTTP 403 on the page and on the bare homepage alike, curl and a separately rendered read both), so everything below is sourced to the portals' editorial rather than Petco's own text.
- A free and a paid tier, under the name TopCashback uses. "Sign up for the Petco Perks rewards program (formerly Vital Care rewards) and earn points on every purchase. Free to join, the loyalty program helps you save money on essentials like pet food, supplies, treats, wellness products and more." source. Its free-tier list: "1% points on every purchase", "3% points on Petco brands", "Exclusive member prices", "Autoship savings", "Personalized offers", "Birthday treat for your pet", "Free 8th groom (for dogs)" source.
- The paid upgrade. "For a monthly or yearly fee, you can join Petco Perks Premier, which includes additional benefits." source, priced at "($24.99 per month or $239.99 yearly)" source, on top of the free tier's benefits: "Additional Petco Cash rewards every month", "Extra savings on food and supplies", "Savings on every groom (for dogs)", "Unlimited vet exams at Petco (for dogs and cats)" source.
- A co-branded card, on top of either tier. "Enjoy more savings with a Petco Pay Credit Card, which gets you 10 extra Petco Perks points for every dollar spent at Petco. A Petco Pay Mastercard comes with additional benefits, including 20 Petco Perks points for every $3 spent on grocery purchases and 10 Petco Perks points for every $3 spent anywhere Mastercard is accepted." source.
- What Rakuten calls the same territory, in older-sounding terms. Its editorial describes "Vital Care Core" rather than "Petco Perks": "Becoming a Petco Vital Care Core member makes it simple to save on everything your pet loves. Plus, you'll get exclusive discount coupons and earn 5 Reward Dollars for every $100 spent at Petco." with "Earn 5% Back on Everything You Buy" source. Whether "Vital Care Core" and "Petco Perks Premier" are the same membership under two names, or two different things, isn't confirmed on any page we could read; TopCashback's own "formerly Vital Care rewards" line suggests a rename, but neither portal states it outright. A third name shows up too: TopCashback's own page separately mentions "the Petco's Pals rewards program" source in a different sentence, with no more detail than a free-shipping threshold attached, and we can't tell you how it relates to Petco Perks.
- Repeat Delivery, Petco's Autoship. Rakuten's editorial, under the heading "Get 30% Off With Repeat Delivery Service": "Sign up for their convenient Repeat Delivery service and get 30% off your first-time, qualifying Repeat Delivery purchase. You'll always get free shipping and earn 5% back with Vital Care Core." source.
Put together: there's a real, if inconsistently named, membership ladder above the free loyalty tier, plus a subscription discount on recurring orders. None of it is portal cashback, so all of it stacks with whichever portal you click through.
What Petco cashback stacks with
The short version: Rakuten, TopCashback and Price.com, the three click-through portals whose Petco terms this page quotes, all pay, and Rakuten is the only one of the three that also pays in a physical store. All three carve out the same core things: gift cards, grooming and training services, and the membership signups themselves. Fluz sells its own Petco gift card, a separate mechanism that pays for buying the card rather than for a tracked click.
| Layer | Stacks with portal cashback? | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| A purchase in a Petco store | Yes, at Rakuten only | Rakuten pays the same rate online and in store, "2% Online 2% In-Store" source, governed by its own in-store rules: "US stores only. Offer not valid at locations in US territories. In-Store offers not valid for online purchases and cannot be combined with other offers. Offer not valid for gift card purchases. Debit card purchases must be processed as credit to be eligible for Cash Back. When using a debit card, do not enter your PIN." source. Neither TopCashback's nor Price.com's Petco terms mention a store purchase source source, so treat those two as online only. |
| Repeat Delivery / Autoship, the first order | Yes, at Rakuten, with real fine print | Rakuten's editorial promises "30% off your first-time, qualifying Repeat Delivery purchase" source, but its own exclusions list takes back every order after that: "Cash Back is not available on grooming services, gift cards, donations, training, portion paid for with Vital Care Rewards, or repeat delivery subscriptions after the first delivery." source. |
| Repeat Delivery / Autoship, repeat orders | No, at Rakuten by name | Same exclusion as above: "repeat delivery subscriptions after the first delivery" source earns nothing there. Neither TopCashback's nor Price.com's Petco terms address Autoship specifically source source. |
| Petco Perks / Vital Care membership fee | Not named by any of the three | None of Rakuten's, TopCashback's or Price.com's Petco terms name the membership fee itself. Rakuten does exclude the currency it pays out in: "portion paid for with Vital Care Rewards" source is excluded, meaning if you use Vital Care points to cover part of an order, that part doesn't earn Rakuten cashback. Price.com separately excludes "Vital Care memberships" and "Pals Rewards sign-ups" source, meaning signing up for either doesn't earn cashback, which says nothing about a later purchase. |
| The Petco Pay Credit Card or Mastercard | Yes | It earns its own points on the charge, separate from portal cashback on the tracked order; the pillar guide covers how card rewards and portal cashback coexist generally. |
| Petco promo codes | Depends where the code came from | Price.com excludes "purchases made with unauthorized coupon codes" source. Neither Rakuten's nor TopCashback's Petco terms address codes from elsewhere source source, so the safe move at those two is to stick to what's on the portal's own page. |
| Grooming and training services | No, at Rakuten and Price.com by name | Rakuten's exclusions name "grooming services" and "training" in the same list quoted above source. Price.com excludes "training services, grooming appointments" source. TopCashback's Petco terms don't name either service source. |
| Gift cards, including the Fluz card | No, at Rakuten and Price.com | Rakuten excludes "gift cards" source and Price.com excludes "gift cards" source, both as things you buy. A Fluz Petco card is a gift card (Fluz lists the issuer as Petco), so buying one and clicking through Rakuten or Price.com is a pick-one on a given order. Fluz's own cashback lands when you buy the card, before Petco sees the order, and unlike some merchants' Fluz cards here, this one works "in-store and online" source. |
| A second portal | Never | Only one tracking click gets credit; the pillar guide explains why the last click wins. |
Petco cashback exclusions and what breaks tracking
The three portals' exclusion lists overlap on services and gift cards, and Rakuten's is the longest because it's the only one that also covers a store purchase.
- Rakuten's exclusions and terms. "Cash Back is not available on grooming services, gift cards, donations, training, portion paid for with Vital Care Rewards, or repeat delivery subscriptions after the first delivery. Cash Back is not available on Petco Vital Care or Pharmacy items." source. Free shipping: "Petco offers free shipping on orders of $49 or more (exclusions apply)." source. Posting: "Cash Back will be automatically added to your Rakuten account tomorrow." source.
- TopCashback's rate line and terms. The category shown is "Online Purchase (Excludes Vital Care Signup)" source, meaning signing up for the membership itself is out, without a fuller stated exclusions list on this page. Its general terms still apply: purchases are calculated on item price, and a Missing Cash Back Claim has its usual window; check the live page for the current text, since a dedicated exclusions block for Petco wasn't printed the way it is for other merchants here.
- Price.com. "Online Exclusions: Cash Back is not available on gift cards, donations, purchases made with unauthorized coupon codes, Vital Care memberships, Petco Pay applications, training services, grooming appointments, Pals Rewards sign-ups, or email sign-ups." source. Timing: "Purchases will typically show in your wallet as pending in 4 hours." and "Cash Back will be added to your wallet in approximately 89 days." source.
- Fluz's card limits, and it works in a store too. Cards run "from $20–$200" and are "redeemable in-store and online" source, unlike some other merchants' Fluz cards on this site that are online only. The spec block: "Non-refundable", "Does not expire", "Non-reloadable" source.
- What Petco's own pages could not confirm. Every path into petco.com returned HTTP 403 this session, the bare homepage included, so nothing above is first-party. In particular, whether Rakuten's Vital Care Core, TopCashback's Petco Perks Premier and TopCashback's separate Pals Rewards mention are the same program under different names, or genuinely separate things, is not resolved by any portal page read here, and we're not guessing at the answer.
What breaks tracking at any store, Petco included (the pillar guide has the portals' own wording on each):
- A second coupon or cashback extension that fires after the one you're earning with, so its click is the last one Petco sees.
- Starting on one device and finishing on another, including clicking through on a laptop and buying in the Petco app. The click has to happen where the checkout happens.
- Entering a debit card PIN at checkout rather than running it as credit, on Rakuten's in-store rate specifically.
- A second or later Repeat Delivery shipment, at Rakuten.
- Paying with a gift card, or buying one, at all three portals.
- A return, an exchange or a cancellation, which reverses the commission the cashback was going to be paid from.

How these Petco numbers were produced
- Read directly from each portal's own merchant page, never copied from another comparison site.
- A rate we could not read is reported as unread. It is never converted into a zero, and a failed check never overwrites a previously good number.
- "Up to" and new-customer-only rates are labelled as such and are not allowed to win the top spot over a lower rate that everyone actually gets.
Petco cashback FAQ
Which portal pays the most for Petco cashback right now?
Fluz, at 12%. That's the rate a returning shopper gets, which is how the table ranks: an "up to" ceiling or a new-customer rate never takes this spot over a lower rate everyone gets.
How long does Petco cashback take to pay out?
On a click-through portal there are two waits, one after the other: the portal has to confirm the order with Petco, which mostly tracks Petco's return window, and then the confirmed balance has to be paid out, which is the portal's own rule. Buying Petco's gift card through a portal skips the first wait: that cashback is paid when the card is bought.
- Fluz: Instant. The cashback lands in the Fluz balance when the gift card is bought. Payout: On request; 2 to 7 business days. Fluz charges no fee, but passes on any transfer fee it's charged.
- Raise: Posted to the Raise account when the gift card is bought, and rescinded if that purchase is refunded or cancelled for any reason. Payout: Posted on each gift-card purchase. Raise Cash expires 180 days after the day it was earned.
- BeFrugal: Verified cash back sits in the account for 30 to 90 days, set by the retailer's return policy and its payment cycle with BeFrugal. Store pages say cash back is typically available for payment 15 to 60 days after purchase. Payout: On request. Most payouts are sent on the next business day after the request.
- RetailMeNot: In about 45 days the cash back lands in the RetailMeNot account as redeemable. Payout: On request, once the cash back is approved in the account.
- TopCashback: No fixed window. Cash back goes pending, then confirmed once the retailer reviews the order, then payable once the retailer's network is invoiced. TopCashback prints an estimated payout speed on each merchant's page. Payout: On request, once the cash back is payable. Adding bank, PayPal or Venmo details puts a 72-hour hold on the account first.
- chirpyest: Not available until the retailer's return period has elapsed, up to 180 days or longer from purchase. Payout: On chirpyest's current payment schedule, which its terms don't date.
- Hoopla Doopla: Usually posts within 10 days of purchase, then becomes yours after 90 days. Payout: Every three months. Payments go out by the end of January, April, July and October to everyone who qualifies.
- Rakuten: 3 to 14 weeks for online and in-store purchases; 45 to 120 days for travel. Payout: Every three months: February 15, May 15, August 15 and November 15.
- RebatesMe: Cash back becomes available after the 90-day return window.
- Extrabux: Usually tracked within 1 to 7 days of purchase, then held through a 90-day window for returns or cancellations at most stores before it becomes available. Payout: On request. Requests are processed within 3 business days; PayPal and eGift cards typically land within 24 to 48 hours after that, ACH takes about 5 business days, and a check 1 to 2 weeks by post.
- Price.com: Typically 30 to 90 days: pending until the retailer confirms the purchase and its return period ends. Payout: On request, once the cash back is approved.
- ShopBack: Pending within 48 hours of checkout, then Confirmed once the partner store's claim time has been fulfilled: usually a few weeks for retail, after trip completion for travel. Payout: On request. Typically processed within 10 calendar days (up to 30 in some cases), with a $300 daily withdrawal limit.
- Active Junky: Orders stay pending until the partner store approves them. For travel and events, partners typically approve within about 3 months after the trip or event. Payout: On the 20th of each month, or the next business day when the 20th falls on a weekend or holiday.
- Mr. Rebates: Rebates post to Pending within 1 to 3 business days of the order or ship date, then stay Pending for 90 days from the posting date before moving to Available. Payout: On request, once $10 in Available Rebates has accrued.
- Lolli: Rewards become available once each retailer's confirmation period has passed, typically 90 days after the purchase or completed travel reservation. It can take up to 90 days. Payout: On request, once the balance is available.
- CouponFollow: Pending for up to 60 days, to ensure a purchase isn't returned or refunded. Payout: Monthly: paid on the 25th to the linked PayPal account, arriving by month end; rewards earned on or after the 25th roll to the next month.
- GoCashBack: It can take up to 120 days for cash back to become available. Payout: On request. A payment request is processed within 7 to 14 business days.
- MyPoints: No confirmation window we have verified. Payout: On redemption. Some rewards are delivered immediately; others may take up to 10 business days to process.

- Fluz: $15 in lifetime earnings once, then $1 per withdrawal.

- RetailMeNot: A minimum approved balance of $5.01 is required for a redemption.
- TopCashback: None for PayPal, Venmo or bank transfer; some gift cards have one.
- chirpyest: $5.00; balances below $5.00 remain in the account for the next payment period.
- Hoopla Doopla: $5.00 in approved cash back per period, for PayPal, Venmo and paper checks alike. A balance under that carries over to the next period.

- ShopBack: $5 of Confirmed Cashback on ShopBack's payment-methods and clear-time guides; its withdraw how-to says $10.

- Mr. Rebates: $10 in Available Rebates.
- Lolli: $15 in available balance.

Does Petco cashback work in a store, or only online?
Both, through two different routes. Rakuten pays the same rate either way, "2% Online 2% In-Store" source, with real conditions on the in-store half: "US stores only", the purchase can't be combined with another offer, and "Debit card purchases must be processed as credit to be eligible for Cash Back. When using a debit card, do not enter your PIN." source. TopCashback's and Price.com's Petco terms don't mention a store purchase at all source source, so treat those two as online only. Fluz's card is the other in-store route: "redeemable in-store and online" source, a payment rather than a tracked click, so it works at the register the same way it works on a browser checkout.
Does Petco cashback work on Repeat Delivery (Autoship) orders?
Only the first one, at Rakuten. Its editorial promises "30% off your first-time, qualifying Repeat Delivery purchase" source, and its own exclusions take back every order after that: "repeat delivery subscriptions after the first delivery" source earn nothing. Neither TopCashback's nor Price.com's Petco terms address Autoship specifically source source.
What's the difference between Vital Care, Petco Perks and Pals Rewards?
We can't fully tell you, and we're not guessing at it. TopCashback's page describes "the Petco Perks rewards program (formerly Vital Care rewards)" source as if it's one program that changed names, with a free tier and a paid "Petco Perks Premier" upgrade at "$24.99 per month or $239.99 yearly" source. Rakuten's editorial, separately, describes "Vital Care Core" with its own 5% cashback pitch source, which reads like the older name TopCashback says was retired. A third name, "the Petco's Pals rewards program" source, shows up in a different sentence on TopCashback's own page tied to a $49 free-shipping threshold, with no further detail. None of this is confirmed on a Petco page in this pass, since petco.com refused every path tried.
Do gift cards ever earn cashback at Petco?
Not from a portal, but the Fluz card is itself a gift card, which is a different question. Rakuten excludes "gift cards" source, and Price.com excludes "gift cards" among its list source. Fluz's own product pays for buying its Petco gift card, which is the cashback landing at the moment of purchase rather than at checkout, so it isn't affected by the click-through portals' gift-card exclusions; it also isn't stackable with any of them on the same order, since paying with that card is exactly the purchase type those portals exclude.
Is there a minimum order for Petco cashback?
None of Rakuten's, TopCashback's or Price.com's Petco pages states one. The threshold you'll actually feel is Petco's own free-shipping line, "orders of $49 or more (exclusions apply)" per Rakuten's terms source, which is a shipping fee waiver, not cashback. Payout minimums are per portal, in the questions above.
