Sephora Cashback: Every Portal's Rate, Compared

The best Sephora cashback we found is 10% at Fluz, read from Fluz's own Sephora page.

How to get Sephora cashback, step by step

  1. Open Fluz's Sephora page and buy a gift card for the amount of your Sephora order. The rate as we last read it was 10%. Instant. The cashback lands in the Fluz balance when the gift card is bought.
  2. Pay for your Sephora order with that gift card, the same way you'd use any Sephora gift card.
  3. Buy only what you'll spend. The cashback is paid when you buy the card, and a card balance you never use is money parked at Sephora, not savings.
  4. Get paid. Fluz pays by: Bank transfer (ACH), PayPal or Venmo, or spent in the app on more gift cards. Without a US bank account, PayPal or Venmo. Minimum: $15 in lifetime earnings once, then $1 per withdrawal. Timing: On request; 2 to 7 business days. Fluz charges no fee, but passes on any transfer fee it's charged.

Does Sephora have its own cashback or rewards program?

Yes, Beauty Insider, and it's a points program rather than cashback, so it stacks with a portal click rather than replacing it. The specific tier structure below is TopCashback's editorial, not read directly from Sephora: `sephora.com/beauty/loyalty-program` and `sephora.com/beauty/beautyinsider-terms-conditions` both returned an HTTP 403 access-denied response to curl with a full Chrome header set and to WebFetch alike; only the bare `sephora.com` homepage answered. With that gap stated plainly, TopCashback describes three tiers:

  • "Insider" (Free to Join): "One Beauty Insider point for every dollar spent", "$10 Beauty Insider Cash (500 points)", "10% off during Sephora's Savings Event", "Free birthday gift each year (redeem online with a $25 purchase)", and "Free shipping with no minimum spend" source.
  • "VIB" (Spend $350 per year): "Includes all Insider member benefits", "15% off during Sephora's Savings Event", "3X points during Point Multiplier events", and "Exclusive VIB gifts and rewards" source.
  • "Rouge" (Spend $1,000 per year): "Includes all VIB member benefits", "20% off during Sephora's Savings Event", "4X points during Point Multiplier events", "$20 Beauty Insider Cash (1,000 points)", and "2,500 points for a $100 Rouge Reward" source.

TopCashback's editorial also names a co-branded card: "Apply for a Sephora Credit Card and get 25% off your first purchase with the card. You'll also earn rewards points with card purchases." source. That's a separate financial product, not a portal, and it stacks the way any other rewards card does; the pillar guide covers how card rewards and portal cashback coexist.

Two direct FAQ answers worth knowing before you shop, a student discount but no military one: "Sephora offers student discounts through programs like Student Beans and UNiDAYS." and "Sephora doesn't offer a military discount at this time." source. On shipping: "Sephora offers free standard shipping for Beauty Insider members. Otherwise, free shipping is included with purchases of $50 or more." source.

What Sephora cashback stacks with

LayerStacks with portal cashback?Notes
Hispanic/Latino-Founded Brands (online)Yes, at Rakuten, which pays more here than on the rest of its Sephora catalogueRakuten singles this category out above its own general rate for "All Other Non-Excluded Items" source. Neither TopCashback's nor Price.com's terms carry a matching category source source. Today's numbers are in the table above.
A general online orderYes, at Rakuten, TopCashback and Price.comRakuten pays its base rate on "All Other Non-Excluded Items" source; TopCashback lists one category, "Online Purchase" source; Price.com pays a single flat rate source.
A purchase made in a Sephora storeNo, at any of the threeRakuten used to run a separate in-store rate on its Sephora page and no longer lists one; its page now shows online categories only source. TopCashback's rate table shows only "Online Purchase" source, and Price.com says it outright, "only available on purchases made through Sephora.com" source. For a walk-in purchase the Fluz gift card is the only route on this page that pays anything.
Beauty Insider point multiplier eventsYes, it's a separate currencyAn "X Points" promotion (4X on a brand, for instance) earns Beauty Insider points, not portal cashback, so it adds to the same order a portal click is tracking rather than competing with it.
A subscription or auto-ship orderNo, at Rakuten by name"orders placed that are set up as auto-ship (subscriptions)" are excluded source. Neither TopCashback's nor Price.com's terms mention a subscription exclusion source source.
An order placed on Sephora Canada, Sephora.hk or Sephora.sgNo, at Rakuten by name"orders placed with Sephora Canada, Sephora.hk or Sephora.sg" are excluded source. TopCashback handles this differently, redirecting Canadian orders to a separate page rather than excluding them outright; see the exclusions section below.
A coupon code not displayed on the portal itselfNo, at Rakuten and TopCashbackRakuten: "Using coupon codes that are not listed on Rakuten may void Cash Back." source. TopCashback: "Use of a coupon code not displayed on TopCashback." source.
Gift cards, buying one or paying with oneNo, at Rakuten, TopCashback and Price.comRakuten: "not available on the purchase of gift cards and e-gift cards" source. TopCashback: "Purchase or redemption of a Sephora gift card." source. Price.com: "gift card purchases are not eligible" source.
The Fluz gift cardYes on its own purchase, but it's the same gift-card mechanism the three portals above excludeFluz pays you for buying the card: "Purchase e-gift cards available from $10–$250 that are redeemable in-store and online" source. That makes the Fluz route and a portal click either/or on the same order, since the Fluz cashback lands when you buy the card and Rakuten, TopCashback and Price.com each exclude paying with a gift card.
A second portalNeverOnly one tracking click gets credit; the pillar guide explains why the last click wins.

Sephora cashback exclusions and what breaks tracking

The split that decides your payout here isn't beauty product type, it's online versus in-store: none of the three portals whose Sephora terms this page quotes pays on a walk-in purchase.

  • Rakuten's exclusions. "Cash Back is not available on the purchase of gift cards and e-gift cards, orders placed that are set up as auto-ship (subscriptions), orders placed with Sephora Canada, Sephora.hk or Sephora.sg, or orders deemed by Sephora as being for reseller activities." source. Rakuten carried a Sephora in-store offer until recently, with its own rules about JCPenney and Kohl's locations and about running a debit card as credit. That offer is no longer on the page, so those rules aren't quoted here any more; if it comes back, the live table above will show it.
  • TopCashback's exclusions, terms, and its Canada redirect. Exclusions: "Purchase or redemption of a Sephora gift card." and "Use of a coupon code not displayed on TopCashback." source. Terms: "Cash Back is calculated only on the item(s) price and does not include taxes, shipping or other fees." "Cash Back will be awarded only on orders shipped to the U.S. If you are having an order shipped to Canada, you will be eligible for the rate on TopCashback's Sephora CA page." "Purchases made with the intention of reselling or buying in bulk are ineligible for Cash Back and may be declined." "To be eligible for Cash Back on all products, you must begin your purchase with an empty shopping cart." "Should your Cash Back fail to track automatically, please submit a Missing Cash Back Claim within 100 days of your order." source.
  • Price.com's page. One category, no tiers: "Cash Back is only available on purchases made through Sephora.com and gift card purchases are not eligible." source. Timing: "Purchases will typically show in your wallet as pending in 2 days" and "Cash Back will be added to your wallet in approximately 90 days." source.
  • Fluz's gift card, and who actually issues it. "$10–$250" that are "redeemable in-store and online" source. The spec block reads "Non-reloadable" source, and unlike some other merchants' cards on this site, the printed terms don't separately confirm or contradict that; they're silent on reloading. Those same printed terms name the actual issuer: "Card is issued by and is the obligation solely of LGCS Inc. You expressly release Sephora USA, Inc. and its affiliates other than LGCS Inc. for any and all liability with respect to this card." source, a third party, not Sephora itself. Where the card works is stated generously: "Redeemable only for merchandise sold at Sephora locations in the U.S. and Canada, at Sephora.com, on our mobile app and at Sephora inside JCPenney stores." source, which by name covers the JCPenney-hosted counters as well as the app and a regular store.

What breaks tracking at Sephora specifically, on top of what breaks it anywhere (the pillar guide has the portals' own general wording):

  • Buying in a store rather than online. No portal click reaches a walk-in purchase, and none of the three has an in-store offer on its Sephora page today.
  • A subscription or auto-ship order, at Rakuten.
  • An order placed on Sephora Canada, Sephora.hk or Sephora.sg rather than the main U.S. site, at Rakuten; TopCashback instead redirects a Canada-shipped order to its own separate Sephora CA page rather than excluding it.
  • Paying with a gift card, or buying one, at Rakuten, TopCashback and Price.com; Fluz's own gift-card product is the exception, and it's the product rather than a click.
  • A coupon code from somewhere other than the portal's own page, at Rakuten and TopCashback.
  • An order TopCashback reads as bulk or resale.

How these Sephora numbers were produced

Sephora cashback FAQ

Which portal pays the most for Sephora cashback right now?

Fluz, at 10%. That's the rate a returning shopper gets, which is how the table ranks: an "up to" ceiling or a new-customer rate never takes this spot over a lower rate everyone gets.

How long does Sephora cashback take to pay out?

On a click-through portal there are two waits, one after the other: the portal has to confirm the order with Sephora, which mostly tracks Sephora's return window, and then the confirmed balance has to be paid out, which is the portal's own rule. Buying Sephora's gift card through a portal skips the first wait: that cashback is paid when the card is bought.

Is there a minimum payout?

Does Sephora have its own rewards program?

Yes, Beauty Insider, free to join, with three tiers by yearly spend, "Insider" (Free to Join), "VIB" (Spend $350 per year), and "Rouge" (Spend $1,000 per year) source, each adding a bigger discount during Sephora's Savings Event and more points per dollar. That content comes from TopCashback's editorial rather than Sephora's own site, since Sephora's loyalty-program and terms pages both returned HTTP 403 to every fetch path tried in this research pass. None of it is a portal, so it stacks with whichever one of Rakuten, TopCashback or Price.com you click through on the same order.

Does Sephora cashback work in a store, or only online?

Online only, at all three portals quoted here. Rakuten used to be the exception, running a dedicated Sephora in-store offer with its own conditions, and it no longer lists one: its page today shows online categories and nothing else source. The other two never had one. TopCashback's rate table shows just "Online Purchase" with no in-store category source, and Price.com states it outright, "only available on purchases made through Sephora.com" source.

If a store is where you actually shop, the Fluz gift card is the route that still pays, because it pays you for buying the card rather than for a tracked click. Its terms cover "Sephora locations in the U.S. and Canada, at Sephora.com, on our mobile app and at Sephora inside JCPenney stores" source. Beauty Insider points and any Sephora card rewards keep working in a store too; they were never portal cashback.

Is there a student or military discount?

A student discount, yes, through third parties; no military discount. Per TopCashback's FAQ: "Sephora offers student discounts through programs like Student Beans and UNiDAYS." and "Sephora doesn't offer a military discount at this time." source. Neither is a portal, and neither is stated on any of the three cashback portals' own terms pages.

Do gift cards ever earn cashback at Sephora?

Not from a portal, but the Fluz card is itself a gift card, which is a different question. Rakuten excludes "the purchase of gift cards and e-gift cards" source, TopCashback excludes "Purchase or redemption of a Sephora gift card" source, and Price.com states "gift card purchases are not eligible" source. Fluz's own product pays you for buying its "$10–$250" gift card source, which is the cashback landing at the moment of purchase rather than at checkout, so it isn't affected by the other three portals' gift-card exclusions; it also isn't stackable with any of them on the same order, since paying with that card at Sephora is exactly the purchase type all three portals exclude.

What's the Hispanic/Latino-Founded Brands category?

A Rakuten-only higher rate on a specific set of brands, above its own general rate. Rakuten lists "Hispanic/Latino-Founded Brands" as its own tier against "All Other Non-Excluded Items" source. Neither TopCashback's nor Price.com's rate pages carry a matching category or a higher rate tied to it source source, so this specific bump is Rakuten's alone; check the live table above and the actual brand on Rakuten's page before assuming a given product qualifies.

Is there a minimum order for Sephora cashback?

No minimum is stated by any of the three portals. All three pay on the item price only: TopCashback excludes "taxes, shipping or other fees" source, and neither Rakuten's nor Price.com's terms state shipping being included source source. Free shipping itself has its own threshold, separate from cashback: "free shipping is included with purchases of $50 or more" for non-Beauty-Insider shoppers, and no minimum for Beauty Insider members source.
