How to get Nike cashback, step by step

  1. Open Active Junky's Nike page and click through to Nike from there. That click is what ties the order to your account, so start every Nike order this way rather than from a bookmark or a search result. The rate as we last read it was 10%.
  2. Shop in that same tab and session. Don't leave for a coupon site and come back, and turn off any other cashback or coupon extension before you check out: the last click before the order is the one that gets credited, and another extension's click can take it.
  3. Check out in one go, using only codes Active Junky itself shows for Nike. A code from somewhere else can void the cashback on many stores.
  4. Wait for it to confirm. Orders stay pending until the partner store approves them. For travel and events, partners typically approve within about 3 months after the trip or event. Returning part of the order, or cancelling it, changes what gets paid.
  5. Get paid. Active Junky pays by: Check, PayPal, Venmo or a credit/debit card. Approved cash back can also be cashed out early as a gift card. Minimum: None stated for the monthly payout. Cashing out early as a gift card takes $5.01 in approved cash back. Timing: On the 20th of each month, or the next business day when the 20th falls on a weekend or holiday.

Does Nike have its own cashback or rewards program?

No, and that's simpler than it sounds. Nike Membership is free, and worth having for the shipping alone, but nothing in it pays you back as points or cashback. Nike's membership page answers "Is Nike Membership free?" with "100% yes. Members enjoy all the benefits of Nike Membership at no cost" source, and the perks it lists are free delivery on every $50+ order, a 60-day wear test, receipt-free returns, Member-only events and access to Member products source. None of that builds a balance as you spend. So when you're deciding where to buy, there's no Nike program pulling against the portal's rate: on a Nike order, the portal cashback is the only cashback you'll see.

What Nike does have is a set of 10% discounts, and they're worth knowing about here for one reason: each of them shows up as a promo code, and promo codes are exactly where the portals' terms get particular. The stacking table below has the details.

  • Verified 10% discounts. Nike's deals page offers "a 10% discount to eligible shoppers" in five groups: students, military, teachers, first responders and medical professionals source. Once you're verified, students and military members get "a single-use promo code for 10% off most items", with a fresh code available "once every seven days"; each code lasts two weeks and covers the first $500 of the order source source.
  • Birthday discount. If you're a Member, Nike gives you 10% off select items for around 60 days from your birthday. Online it lands on your first eligible order without you doing anything; in a Nike store, you show the offer in the Nike App. It's one-time use, needs a $100 minimum purchase, and applies to the first $500 source.
  • Everything else is a sale. Nike's own advice for the lowest prices is plain: the sale section on Nike.com and in the Nike App, or a Nike Factory Store source. A sale price isn't a program and doesn't involve a code, which is why it gets an easier answer in the table below.

There's no Nike credit card to add to the stack, either. Nike's payment options page lists Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, Klarna, and Nike and Converse gift cards source. A Nike-branded card isn't among them.

What Nike cashback stacks with

The short version: your card rewards and a sale price both stack with the portal, a Nike promo code depends on which portal you clicked through, and a gift card you bought somewhere else doesn't stack at Rakuten, TopCashback or Price.com. Those are the three portals whose Nike terms this page quotes, and the table has each one's own wording, so you can check the layer you actually care about.

LayerStacks with portal cashback?Notes
Nike promo codesDepends on the portal and the codeRakuten is the easy one: "you can use Nike promo codes and still earn Cash Back on your purchase through Rakuten" source. TopCashback lists "Use of a coupon code not displayed on TopCashback" as an exclusion, so stick to the codes on its own Nike page source. Price.com prints codes on its Nike page and doesn't say either way about codes from elsewhere source.
Student, military, teacher, first responder and birthday codesNot at TopCashbackTopCashback excludes "Use of a student, military, employee or birthday coupon code" source. Teacher and first-responder codes aren't named on the page either way. Rakuten and Price.com don't mention these codes in their Nike terms at all, so Rakuten's general yes on promo codes is the only text that speaks to them source. If you're holding one of these codes and want the wording on your side, that's Rakuten.
Member pricingYesNike's Member deals aren't named in the Nike terms at Rakuten, TopCashback or Price.com. The one Member perk that is named is the birthday discount, at TopCashback, in the row above.
Sale pricesYesCashback is a percentage of what you actually pay for the items. TopCashback: "Cash Back is calculated only on the item(s) price and does not include taxes, shipping or other fees" source. A pair on sale earns cashback on the sale price, and Nike's sale section isn't in the exclusion list at Rakuten, TopCashback or Price.com.
Credit-card rewardsYes, alwaysYour card issuer pays its rewards on the charge and the portal pays on the tracked order; neither one knows about the other. Nike takes Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover source. Fluz isn't this layer, though: it pays you for buying a Nike gift card, and the row below is where that lands.
Gift cards bought elsewhereNo, at Rakuten, TopCashback or Price.comRakuten excludes "purchases paid for with gift cards" source, Price.com uses the same words source, and TopCashback excludes "Purchase or redemption of a Nike gift card" source. So a discounted Nike gift card from a reseller and a click-through rate is a pick-one situation. That includes the Fluz route: Fluz sells the Nike gift card itself, "Purchase e-gift cards available for $250 that are redeemable in-store and online" source, so paying with one is exactly the redemption these three exclude. Fluz's cashback lands when you buy the card; the portal's would have landed on the order. Pick whichever is worth more and don't plan on both.
Nike's own rewards programNothing to stackThere isn't one (see above).
A second portalNeverNike credits one tracking click per order, the last one before checkout, so clicking through two portals earns at one of them at most. TopCashback goes a step further and asks that you "begin your purchase with an empty shopping cart" source. The pillar guide explains why.

Nike cashback exclusions and what breaks tracking

Nike's exclusion lists are long, and most of the length is about sneaker launches and resale. Here's what Rakuten, TopCashback and Price.com each name on their own Nike pages, then the handful of things that break tracking at any store.

  • SNKRS and launch products. If you're chasing a launch, read this one first. Rakuten and Price.com both exclude "purchases made through the Nike SNKRS App or referenced on nike.com/launch as only available in the SNKRS app" source source. TopCashback doesn't name the app; its list excludes "Air Jordan Retros, HyperAdapt and Adapt BB" source. Rakuten also excludes "new releases" and "select Jordans"; Price.com excludes "new releases" and "Air Jordans".
  • Gift cards, in both directions. Buying a Nike gift card earns nothing at Rakuten, TopCashback or Price.com, and paying with one voids the order at Rakuten and Price.com, while TopCashback excludes "redemption" outright (same sources as the table above).
  • Resale and bulk. Rakuten and Price.com exclude "orders deemed by Nike to be used for reselling purposes". TopCashback: "Purchases made with the intention of reselling or buying in bulk are ineligible for Cash Back and may be declined" source.
  • The rest of the named lists. Rakuten: "HyperIce products", "refurbished shoes", "After Dark marathon tickets", "non-US orders", "purchases made on the employee website", "Nike Team orders" source. Price.com: refurbished shoes, non-US orders, the employee website source. TopCashback: "Hurley Wetsuits" source.
  • Codes TopCashback won't pay on. Any code not shown on TopCashback, and any student, military, employee or birthday code source.
  • Order size. Rakuten: "Cash Back on orders over $500 may be subject to review and reversal" source. Price.com: "Max Cash Back Per Order: $15" source. TopCashback: "Cash Back earned cannot exceed the total purchase amount" source.
  • Returns, the one to watch. Rakuten: "Cash Back for the entire order will be void if there are returns/exchanges/cancellations on any part of an order" source. Send one item of three back and the whole order's cashback goes with it, so if you're between sizes, order once rather than twice. TopCashback holds every order until the return period is over because "any items that are returned will disqualify your Cash Back" source, and Nike's return window is 60 days ("Try it for 60 days") source, which is the floor on how long your Nike cashback stays pending.
  • Deadlines if it doesn't track. TopCashback: a Missing Cash Back Claim "within 45 days of your order" source. Rakuten: "Cash Back can only be researched for up to 60 days from the order date" source. Price.com adds the cashback to your wallet "in approximately 90 days" source, so a Price.com order that never tracked won't be obvious for three months. TopCashback says a tracked order shows in your account within 7 days source, so a week after ordering is when to look, whichever portal you used.

What breaks tracking at any store, Nike included (the pillar guide has the portals' own wording on each):

  • A coupon or cashback browser extension that fires after the portal click, so its click is the last one Nike sees.
  • Starting on one device and finishing on another, including clicking through on a laptop and buying in the Nike App. The click has to happen on the device that checks out.
  • Ad blockers and cookie blocking, which can stop the tracking cookie from being set at all.
  • Items already in the cart before the click. TopCashback states the empty-cart rule outright; Rakuten and Price.com don't, but nothing about the mechanism differs.
  • A return, an exchange or a cancellation, which reverses the commission the cashback was going to be paid from.

How these Nike numbers were produced

Nike cashback FAQ

Which portal pays the most for Nike cashback right now?

Active Junky, at 10%, tied with TopCashback and BeFrugal at the same rate. That's the rate a returning shopper gets, which is how the table ranks: an "up to" ceiling or a new-customer rate never takes this spot over a lower rate everyone gets.

How long does Nike cashback take to pay out?

On a click-through portal there are two waits, one after the other: the portal has to confirm the order with Nike, which mostly tracks Nike's return window, and then the confirmed balance has to be paid out, which is the portal's own rule. Buying Nike's gift card through a portal skips the first wait: that cashback is paid when the card is bought.

Is there a minimum payout?

Does Nike cashback work in the SNKRS app?

No, and it isn't close. Rakuten and Price.com both exclude "purchases made through the Nike SNKRS App or referenced on nike.com/launch as only available in the SNKRS app" source source, and TopCashback excludes Air Jordan Retros, HyperAdapt and Adapt BB by name source. There's no code to soften it either: Nike's own promo code terms say "Promo codes are not valid for Nike SNKRS releases" source. A Fluz Nike gift card is a payment method rather than a tracked click, so a portal's SNKRS exclusion has nothing to attach to, but that isn't the same as a promise: Nike's gift card terms cover "merchandise online at Nike.com, Converse.com, at any Nike-owned and Converse-owned retail location in the United States and Puerto Rico" source without naming the SNKRS app either way, and we haven't tested a SNKRS checkout with one. Don't build a launch-day plan on it.

Can I use a Nike promo code and still get cashback?

It depends on which portal you clicked through. At Rakuten, yes, in its own words: "you can use Nike promo codes and still earn Cash Back on your purchase through Rakuten" source. At TopCashback, only a code shown on TopCashback's Nike page, and never a student, military, employee or birthday code source. Price.com lists codes on its Nike page and doesn't say what happens with codes from elsewhere source. On Nike's side, a percent-off code can be combined with a free-shipping code and nothing else, and it has to go in before you complete the order source.

Is there a minimum order for Nike cashback?

Not at Rakuten, TopCashback or Price.com. None of their Nike terms sets one, so a $30 order earns the same rate as a $300 one. The limits run the other way: Price.com caps cashback at $15 per order source, and Rakuten may review orders over $500 source. Nike's free-shipping threshold is a separate thing: Members get free delivery on every $50+ order source, and shipping doesn't earn cashback anyway. The minimum that does exist is the payout minimum, per portal, in the questions above.
