Best Buy Cashback: Every Portal's Rate, Compared
The best Best Buy cashback we found is 8% at MaxRebates, read from MaxRebates's own Best Buy page.
Best Buy cash back rates by portal

How to get Best Buy cashback, step by step
- Open MaxRebates's Best Buy page and click through to Best Buy from there. That click is what ties the order to your account, so start every Best Buy order this way rather than from a bookmark or a search result. The rate as we last read it was 8%.
- Shop in that same tab and session. Don't leave for a coupon site and come back, and turn off any other cashback or coupon extension before you check out: the last click before the order is the one that gets credited, and another extension's click can take it.
- Check out in one go, using only codes MaxRebates itself shows for Best Buy. A code from somewhere else can void the cashback on many stores.
- Wait for it to confirm. Pending for 90 days to cover store return policies, cancellations and commission collection; it often takes up to 90 days for cash back to become payable, depending on the product and the merchant. Returning part of the order, or cancelling it, changes what gets paid.
- Get paid. MaxRebates pays by: Check or PayPal, in US dollars, and sometimes other options such as a donation to charity. Minimum: $10.00 per payment, with a $2,000.00 maximum. Timing: On request, once the cash back is payable. A PayPal payout should arrive within 7 to 14 business days.
Getting paid, portal by portal
Each portal's own help pages, as written there. The source link on each row goes to the page it came from. These are the portal's terms, not Best Buy's.
| Portal | Paid by | Minimum | Confirmation window |
|---|---|---|---|
| MaxRebatessource | Check or PayPal, in US dollars, and sometimes other options such as a donation to charity. | $10.00 per payment, with a $2,000.00 maximum. | Pending for 90 days to cover store return policies, cancellations and commission collection; it often takes up to 90 days for cash back to become payable, depending on the product and the merchant. |
| Fluzsource | Bank transfer (ACH), PayPal or Venmo, or spent in the app on more gift cards. Without a US bank account, PayPal or Venmo. | $15 in lifetime earnings once, then $1 per withdrawal. | Instant. The cashback lands in the Fluz balance when the gift card is bought. |
| RebatesMesource | PayPal, credit card, Alipay, check or gift cards. | $10 in available cash back, not counting bonuses. | Cash back becomes available after the 90-day return window. |
| Price.comsource | Debit card deposit, PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, gift cards, a donation to charity, or crypto. | $10 per withdrawal, with a $500 cap per withdrawal and per day. | Typically 30 to 90 days: pending until the retailer confirms the purchase and its return period ends. |

It's redeemed at checkout on Raise toward any gift card or other product Raise sells, and Raise's catalogue includes a Prepaid Mastercard. Raise doesn't offer cash distribution, bank transfers or PayPal transfers. | None to redeem; Raise applies it at your next checkout. Gift cards must be bought for at least $5, and with more than $1,000 in Raise Cash on hand you have to redeem some before earning more. | Posted to the Raise account when the gift card is bought, and rescinded if that purchase is refunded or cancelled for any reason. |
| Active Junkysource | Check, PayPal, Venmo or a credit/debit card. Approved cash back can also be cashed out early as a gift card. | None stated for the monthly payout. Cashing out early as a gift card takes $5.01 in approved cash back. | Orders stay pending until the partner store approves them. For travel and events, partners typically approve within about 3 months after the trip or event. |
| Hoopla Dooplasource | Check, Venmo or PayPal. | $5.00 in approved cash back per period, for PayPal, Venmo and paper checks alike. A balance under that carries over to the next period. | Usually posts within 10 days of purchase, then becomes yours after 90 days. |
| Extrabuxsource | PayPal, eGift cards, ACH bank deposit (US only), check (US only), or a donation to a charity. | $10 available balance, with at least one confirmed purchase carrying more than $1 in available cash back. | Usually tracked within 1 to 7 days of purchase, then held through a 90-day window for returns or cancellations at most stores before it becomes available. |
| TopCashbacksource | Bank transfer, Venmo, PayPal, gift cards, a Virtual Visa Prepaid Card or an American Express Virtual Reward Card. | None for PayPal, Venmo or bank transfer; some gift cards have one. | No fixed window. Cash back goes pending, then confirmed once the retailer reviews the order, then payable once the retailer's network is invoiced. TopCashback prints an estimated payout speed on each merchant's page. |
| BeFrugalsource | Check, PayPal, direct deposit, Venmo, Zelle or an eGift card. Check and direct deposit are US only. | $0.01 for PayPal or direct deposit; $25 for a check. | Verified cash back sits in the account for 30 to 90 days, set by the retailer's return policy and its payment cycle with BeFrugal. Store pages say cash back is typically available for payment 15 to 60 days after purchase. |
| GoCashBacksource | PayPal, check, gift card (US only) or Helipay. | $10 in withdrawable cash back, not counting sign-up, referral or activity bonuses for the first withdrawal. | It can take up to 120 days for cash back to become available. |
| Rakutensource | Big Fat Check by mail, PayPal, American Express Membership Rewards points, or Bilt. A confirmed balance of $5.00 or more can also be redeemed as a gift card within minutes. | $5.01 in confirmed cash back before the payment date; $5.00 or less carries over to the next one. | 3 to 14 weeks for online and in-store purchases; 45 to 120 days for travel. |
| Lollisource | Transfer to any bitcoin address if you're earning in bitcoin, or withdraw to a US bank account. Lolli holds the bitcoin in a custodial wallet until you withdraw it. | $15 in available balance. | Rewards become available once each retailer's confirmation period has passed, typically 90 days after the purchase or completed travel reservation. It can take up to 90 days. |
| Sunshine Rewardssource | PayPal, or gift cards from time to time through the Redemption Center. | 20.00 in credits, and the account has to be at least 45 days old. Cashouts are capped at $500 a month. | Earnings should post within 10 days. Sale credits are then held: 28 days per the help page, 21 days from the date of purchase per the terms page. |
Does Best Buy have its own cashback or rewards program?
Yes, and it changed on June 4, 2026, which matters because most write-ups you'll find, including the ones printed on the portals' own Best Buy pages, describe the old version. Three things wear the My Best Buy name: a free membership, two paid memberships, and a credit card. Only the paid tiers and the card pay a percentage, and the percentage comes back as points rather than as a discount at the register.
- My Best Buy, the free one. "A My Best Buy membership is free." source. Best Buy describes it as the tier "for customers who want convenience with free standard shipping" source, and the shipping page spells out what that's worth: the site's rule is "Free standard shipping on orders $35 and up", and "The $35 minimum does not apply to My Best Buy™, My Best Buy Plus™ or My Best Buy Total™ members." source. What it doesn't do is pay points. Best Buy's own FAQ on the change: "Rewards on eligible purchases are available for My Best Buy Plus™ and My Best Buy Total™ members." source. If you see the free tier described as earning points, that's the program before June 2026. One limit that applies to every tier: "Free shipping is not available for Marketplace Products regardless of order total or member status." source
- My Best Buy Plus and Total, the paid ones, and the 1%. Best Buy's FAQ gives the current prices: "A My Best Buy Plus™ membership, which includes additional benefits, is $29.99 per year. A My Best Buy Total™ membership, which includes all the benefits of a Plus membership and more, is $199.99 per year." source. Plus gets "1% back in rewards on eligible purchases (6% with the My Best Buy Credit Card).", "Free two-day shipping.", "Exclusive member prices, deals and offers." and an "Extended 60-day return window on most products." source. Total adds "Product protection plans, including AppleCare+.", "24/7 tech support." and "20% off repairs." source. The 1% is points: "0.5 points per $1 spent (1% back in rewards) on qualifying Best Buy purchases" source, and "Every 250 points unlocks a $5 reward certificate." source. Two things to know about that certificate before you count on it: "Yes, reward certificates will expire on the date printed on each certificate." and "Reward certificates typically may be combined with other offers." source. The June announcement says the prices moved at the same time as the points arrived, "alongside updated membership pricing and existing member benefits" source, and its own renewal notice still reads "your chosen payment card will be charged $179.99, or the then-current price, plus tax, until cancelled" for Total source, while the live FAQ says $199.99. Budget for $199.99; the FAQ is the page Best Buy keeps current. Some benefits stop at the Marketplace line: "Some benefits do not apply to Marketplace Products, see terms for details." source
- The My Best Buy Credit Card, the 5%. "Get 2.5 points per $1 spent (5% back in rewards) on qualifying Best Buy purchases when you choose Standard Credit" source. That last clause is the catch: "Points associated with the My Best Buy® Credit Card are only awarded when you select Standard Credit" source, so the moment you pick a financing plan at checkout, the 5% is gone for that order. Hold a paid membership too and the two add: "If a Plus or Total member uses their My Best Buy Credit Card and chooses Standard Credit, they will receive both points benefits, which are calculated separately, for a total of 6% back in rewards" source. The Visa version also earns away from Best Buy: "Get 1.5 points per $1 spent (3% back in rewards) on net purchases made at gas stations", "Get 1 point per $1 spent (2% back in rewards) on net purchases made at restaurants, bars and grocery stores", and "Get 1 point per $2 spent (1% back in rewards) on net purchases outside Best Buy or Pacific Sales® Kitchen & Home Stores" source. New cardholders get a one-day double: "your first day of purchases on the Credit Card using Standard Credit within the first 14 days of account opening will get an additional 2.5 bonus points (an additional 5% back in rewards, for a total of 10%)" source. Points are figured on the price before tax, "Does not include tax. Additional limitations may apply." source, and gift cards don't earn them: "No, Best Buy gift cards do NOT qualify to earn reward points." source
Put together: the card's 5% is the number the table has to beat, and it's a points balance you spend at Best Buy later, not money off today's order. The membership 1% rides on top of it for Plus and Total members. The free tier is free shipping and nothing more.
What Best Buy cashback stacks with
The short version: sale prices, Top Deals and member prices stack with Rakuten, TopCashback and Price.com, the three click-through portals whose Best Buy terms this page quotes, and Rakuten even lists "Top Deals" as a tier of its own source. The card's 5% and the membership 1% stack too; none of those three name either. A promo code stacks only if the portal's page gave it to you, and TopCashback is the one that says so in print. A price match stacks with all three as far as their pages go, but not with a coupon, and that's Best Buy's rule. Buying a gift card is a no at Rakuten, TopCashback and Price.com; paying with one, which is what the Fluz route is, isn't named by any of them.
| Layer | Stacks with portal cashback? | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Best Buy promo codes and digital coupons | Depends where the code came from | TopCashback excludes "Use of a coupon code not displayed on TopCashback." and invites the other direction: "check this page for any available Best Buy promo codes that you can stack with your Cash Back rewards" source. Rakuten's Best Buy exclusions don't mention codes at all source, so the safe move there is the same: use the ones on its page. Price.com's page says "Coupons optional." and its FAQ sets expectations: "Best Buy rarely issues general public promo codes, focusing instead on daily deals, seasonal sales, and member-exclusive discounts." source. Best Buy's side: "To redeem, you must enter the promotional code or the promo code found on the digital coupon under Payment Method during checkout.", "Digital coupons must be used prior to their noted expiration date and within a single transaction.", and "You may not use digital coupons toward the purchase of Best Buy gift cards." source |
| Sale prices, Top Deals, Deal of the Day, member prices | Yes | A sale price is still a price. Rakuten names "Top Deals" in its tier list source, TopCashback names an "Ultimate Upgrade Sale" tier and pays on "the item(s) price" source, and Price.com carries Best Buy's current offers next to its cashback, "Price.com lists active Best Buy offers and promotional deals directly on its store page." source. Member prices are prices too: Plus buys "Exclusive member prices, deals and offers." source, and none of the three Best Buy pages quoted here names them. |
| My Best Buy points, the 1% and the card's 5% | Yes | Best Buy pays points on the price and the portal pays on the tracked order; neither knows about the other. None of the Best Buy terms at Rakuten, TopCashback or Price.com name the card or the membership. The one rule that can cost you the 5% is Best Buy's, not a portal's: "Points associated with the My Best Buy® Credit Card are only awarded when you select Standard Credit" source. Any other card's rewards stack the same way; the pillar guide covers how. |
| Spending a reward certificate | Not named; expect cashback on what you paid | Best Buy's FAQ: "Reward certificates typically may be combined with other offers." source. TopCashback calculates on "the item(s) price" source, and none of Rakuten, TopCashback or Price.com says what it does with a certificate, so plan on the reduced figure. |
| A price match | Yes with all three, no with a coupon | None of the Best Buy terms at Rakuten, TopCashback or Price.com mention price matching, and the matched price is the price the order tracks at. Best Buy's rule is the one to plan around: "We do not match Qualified Competitors' coupons. Also, customers can either use a coupon or price match to a lower price, but not both. We do not allow a coupon to be used on a product that has a price match." source. The guarantee covers "immediately available new products sold from Best Buy (excludes Marketplace Products, clearance, refurbished and open-box items)", matched against "key online and local competitors" that Best Buy calls Qualified Competitors, and "One price match at the time of purchase, per identical item, per customer, at the current pre-tax price available to all customers is allowed." source. A match after the fact is a partial refund: "If we lower our in-store, online or app price during the return and exchange period, we will match our lower price, upon request." source, and none of the three portals says how it treats one, so we can't tell you either. |
| My Best Buy Plus or Total | Yes for the benefits, mostly no for the fee | The 60-day window, member prices and the 1% all sit alongside a portal. The fee itself: Price.com excludes "subscriptions" source; TopCashback pays only on items inside its listed categories, and a membership isn't in any of them source; Rakuten's Best Buy exclusions don't name memberships either way, though "Services" and "Geek Squad Protection" are on the list source. Don't count on cashback for the fee at any of them. |
| Gift cards, including the Fluz card | Buying one, no at Rakuten, TopCashback or Price.com. Paying with one, not named by any of the three | Rakuten excludes "the purchase of Gift Cards" source, TopCashback "Purchases of gift cards" source, and Price.com lists "gift cards" in its exclusions source, all as things you buy. None of the three says paying with a gift card voids cashback, and we don't turn silence into a yes. Best Buy's side of a mixed payment: "If your gift card balance doesn't cover the total cost of your order, we'll charge the remaining amount to your primary form of payment listed in your Best Buy account, or to another acceptable form of payment at your request." source. Fluz's own cashback lands when you buy the card, before Best Buy sees the order, and its Best Buy article describes the same stack you're reading about, telling you to "Stack your gift card with limited-time sales, promo codes, and credit card perks for better returns." and to use a portal on top, since "Cashback portals often offer cashback when you start your Best Buy session through their platforms." source. |
| Trade-in credit | Not named by Rakuten, TopCashback or Price.com | TopCashback promotes it, "Save up to $850 on Google Pixel 11 Series with Qualified Trade-In." source, without saying whether cashback is figured before or after the trade-in credit, and none of the three portals' Best Buy terms answer that either. If you're trading in a phone, don't build the math on it. |
| A second portal | Never | Only one tracking click gets credit, and TopCashback makes a double attempt fail outright: "To be eligible for Cash Back on all products, you must begin your purchase with an empty shopping cart." source. The pillar guide explains why the last click wins. |
Best Buy cashback exclusions and what breaks tracking
The thing to know before any list: Rakuten, TopCashback and Price.com, the three click-through portals whose Best Buy terms this page quotes, each carve Best Buy up by category and by brand, and the carve-outs land on the things people come to Best Buy for. Apple is out at all three. Game consoles are mostly out, with one Nintendo exception at Rakuten. Laptops and desktops are excluded in the terms at Rakuten and TopCashback while both list laptop tiers on the same page, and that contradiction is real, so read the laptop question in the FAQ before you click. If you're buying an iPhone, a PS5 or a gaming laptop, the Fluz card is the route that doesn't care what's in the cart.
- Rakuten's category gate and its exclusions. "Cash Back is only available on select categories." source. The list: "Cash Back is not available on orders with 6+ of the same SKU. Cash Back is not available on the PS5 Pro, Apple Products (including iPhones, Apple Watch, MacBooks, and AirPods), Laptops & Desktops, Premium & Luxury Appliances, all other Video Game Consoles, Digital Download Video Games, Magnolia Home Theater, Wi-Fi & Networking, Security, Beats by Dr. Dre Headphones, Appliance Parts & Accessories, the purchase of Gift Cards, Point of Sale Activation (POSA) Cards, Electric Car Chargers, Tools, Digital Music, Musical Instruments, Best Buy for Business, Services, Employee discounted orders, Installation, Warranties, Delivery, and Geek Squad Protection." source. The one console it keeps: "Cash Back is available on Nintendo Switch Consoles & Nintendo Switch 2 Consoles." source. Its special terms add the reseller rule and the site rule: "Cash Back is not available on high volume/ reseller orders as defined by Best Buy. High volume orders are defined as 6 or more of the same eligible SKU within a 30-day period. Cash Back is only available on orders completed through the Best Buy US site. Missing Cash Back must be reported within 30 days from order date." source. Thirty days for a claim is a short window; put a reminder on the order date.
- Where Rakuten's page disagrees with itself. Its terms exclude "Laptops & Desktops", and its tier list on the same page names "Select Lenovo Laptops", "Dell Laptops", "Acer Laptops" and five Chromebook lines from "ASUS Chromebooks" to "Samsung Chromebooks" source. Its terms exclude "Security", and its tiers name "Ring Home Security & Monitoring" source. The read that fits both: a named tier is a commitment Rakuten has put in print, and anything under the excluded heading that isn't named falls to the exclusion. A Dell laptop should track; a laptop from a brand that isn't in the list shouldn't be counted on. Its editorial is older than its terms: it prices the memberships at "My Best Buy Plus™ ($49/year)" and "My Best Buy Total™ ($179/year)" source, against the $29.99 and $199.99 on Best Buy's FAQ today, and it still lists "Best Buy Totaltech" as a current program source, a name Best Buy's membership pages no longer use. The terms are the part Rakuten will hold you to. Read those, not the paragraph.
- TopCashback's gate, and where it disagrees with itself. Its exclusions: "Purchases of gift cards, Apple products, gaming consoles (including handhelds), tablets, desktop & laptop computers, computer cards and components and refurbished products." source. Then a category gate: "Purchase of items that are not within the following categories: Appliances; TV & Home Theater; Computer & Tablet Accessories; Cell Phones Audio; Video Games; Cameras, Camcorders & Drones; Home, Furniture & Office; Smart Home; Car Electronics & GPS; Wearable Technology; Health, Wellness & Fitness; Outdoor Living; Collectibles; Electric Transportation." source. Notice that computers and tablets themselves aren't in that list, only their accessories. And yet the same page's tier list names "Chromebooks", "Acer Laptops" and "Intel Gaming Laptops Arrow Lake" source. Same read as Rakuten: a named tier is the promise, an unnamed laptop is the exclusion. Its editorial prices the memberships at "My Best Buy Plus ($49.99/year)" and "My Best Buy Total ($179.99/year)" source, which are also the old numbers.
- TopCashback's terms. "Cash Back is calculated only on the item(s) price and does not include taxes, shipping or other fees." "Purchases made with the intention of reselling or buying in bulk are ineligible for Cash Back and may be declined." "Should your Cash Back fail to track automatically, please submit a Missing Cash Back Claim within 30 days of your order." "Cash Back may initially track at a lower amount. If this happens, the correct amount will be updated once the purchase is approved." "Cash Back earned cannot exceed the total purchase amount." "To be eligible for Cash Back on all products, you must begin your purchase with an empty shopping cart." source. The one printed at the top of the page for Safari users: "With this Safari browser, we cannot guarantee that your Cash Back will track for this retailer. Please use an alternative browser on your device (e.g. Chrome) to get Cash Back." source. If you're on an iPhone or a Mac, that's a real instruction. On returns it has only the site-wide line: "We need to wait until the retailer's return period is over (because any items that are returned will disqualify your Cash Back)." source. And the lower-amount line matters here more than at most stores, because a mixed Best Buy cart, say a TV plus an Apple accessory, will show cashback on part of it.
- Price.com. It does pay on Best Buy, with a cap: "Max Cash Back Per Order:" "$15" source. Its exclusions: "Cash Back is not available for purchases of Apple products, handheld gaming devices, computer cards and components, desktops and all-in-one computers, gaming desktops and laptops, Microsoft Surface laptops, video game hardware, gift cards, subscriptions, prepaid and mobile plans, TV and internet services, digital software, music and gaming, appliance and car installation parts and accessories, refurbished products, Geek Squad warranties, digital Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S games, or for purchases with an item quantity greater than 5." source. Timing: "Purchases will typically show in your wallet as pending in 1 day." and "Cash Back will be added to your wallet in approximately 90 days." source. Its steps end in a browser: "Complete your purchase in the Best Buy tab." source. Nothing on its page mentions Marketplace sellers either way.
- Fluz's card limits. Cards run "from $10–$500", work "in-store and online", and the spec block says "Non-refundable", "Does not expire", "Non-reloadable" and "United States only", with the issuer listed as Best Buy source. The card text printed on the page: "PLEASE TREAT THIS EGIFT CARD LIKE CASH AND SAFEGUARD IT ACCORDINGLY" and "For full Best Buy gift card Terms & Condition, visit BestBuy.com/gcterms." source. On a lost card, Fluz's answer is "Please keep your card details safe and contact the Fluz support team in the Fluz app if you need assistance." source. On a return, "the funds will be refunded to a gift card with that merchant" source, so a returned Fluz-paid order comes back as Best Buy credit, not cash. Fluz doesn't print a per-order card limit for Best Buy, and Best Buy's gift card FAQ doesn't print one either. "Fluz does not charge any fees to purchase a gift card." source. Its Best Buy article is older than Best Buy's program: it describes a "Totaltech™ Membership" and a free tier where you "Sign up for free to earn points on purchases" source; the current tiers and who earns points are in the program section above.
- Best Buy's gift card rules, which the Fluz route inherits. The card terms: "No expiration date, no fees." "Redeemable in any U.S. Best Buy® retail location or online at BestBuy.com®." "Not redeemable or returnable for cash. Not a credit or debit card. Not valid as payment on Best Buy® Credit Card or to purchase Best Buy or third-party cards." source. Lost cards: "Lost, stolen or damaged cards replaced only with valid proof of purchase to extent of remaining card balance." source, which on a Fluz card means the receipt is in your Fluz account, so keep it. What they can't buy, from the FAQ: "Best Buy Gift Cards cannot be used to purchase another Best Buy Gift Card" and "Best Buy Gift Cards cannot be used to purchase prepaid open-loop cards and third-party gift cards (including iTunes, Google Play, gaming or any other prepaid gift cards or codes)." source. Online, "In Checkout, enter both the card number and 4-digit PIN on the back of the card." source. A card keeps its own leftover balance, so a $60 card on a $58 order leaves $2 on that card. On refunds: "If you paid all or some of the purchase price using a Best Buy Gift Card, those funds will be returned to you in the form of a new Best Buy Gift Card or e-Gift Card." source, and "The return amount will be credited to your gift card within 30 minutes of the time we receive it." source. Two things a gift card doesn't earn or take: "No, Best Buy gift cards do NOT qualify to earn reward points." source, and "You may not use digital coupons toward the purchase of Best Buy gift cards." source
- What the card's 5% and the membership 1% don't cover. Tax: "Does not include tax. Additional limitations may apply." source. Financed orders: "Points associated with the My Best Buy® Credit Card are only awarded when you select Standard Credit" source. Gift card purchases, quoted above. Marketplace orders are the murky one. The Marketplace FAQ says "All customers, including My Best Buy Plus™, My Best Buy Total™ members and Best Buy Credit Cardholders, can earn and redeem rewards on Best Buy Marketplace Products (i.e., My Best Buy™ bonus reward promotions)." source, and the points page repeats "Some benefits do not apply to Best Buy Marketplace™ Products." source. That parenthetical is doing a lot of work, and we can't tell you from Best Buy's pages whether the everyday 1% and 5% count a Marketplace order. Check your points balance after the first one.
- Marketplace sellers. How to tell: "The product page will show the product as either 'Sold & shipped by' followed by the Best Buy Marketplace Seller's name, or 'Sold by Best Buy.' This language appears above the 'Add to cart' button on the page." source. What a third-party listing loses on Best Buy's side: "Membership benefits, such as free shipping or extended returns, do not apply to Marketplace purchases." and "Best Buy Marketplace items are not eligible for Best Buy's Price Match Guarantee through Best Buy stores or BestBuy.com." source. On the portals' side, Rakuten's and TopCashback's pages both pay on third-party items as their own tier, with the same five carve-outs. Rakuten lists "Select Third-Party Seller Items" and "All Other Third-Party Seller Items" and then excludes, under "Products from Third-Party Sellers", "Apple", "All Flat Screen TVs", "Blue Label Laptops", "Point & Shoot Cameras" and "Video Game Consoles" source. TopCashback lists "Products from third-party sellers" as a tier, tells you to check the Sold by line on Best Buy's product page to spot one, and excludes "Third Party Purchases of, Apple products, all flat screen TVs, blue label laptops, point & shoot cameras, video game consoles" source. So a third-party TV is out at both, while a third-party TV mount is in.
- Returns and timing. Best Buy's window is short, and "the time period begins the day you receive your product" source: most products 15 days, activatable devices 14 days, and for Plus and Total members most products 60 days, marked "(Excludes Marketplace Products)" source. Marketplace items get the standard window and "are excluded from the My Best Buy Plus™ and My Best Buy Total™ extended return member benefits." source. Restocking fees exist: "Activatable devices (excluding prepaid phones): $45" source. A return takes the cashback with it at every portal, TopCashback says so in the line quoted above, and it takes the coupon too: "Coupon cannot be replaced if it is lost, stolen, or deleted, or if you cancel or return your purchase." source. The upside of that short window is that Best Buy cashback should clear faster than at stores with 90-day returns; Price.com still quotes "approximately 90 days" source, so don't plan spending around it.
What breaks tracking at any store, Best Buy included (the pillar guide has the portals' own wording on each):
- A second coupon or cashback extension that fires after the one you're earning with, so its click is the last one Best Buy sees.
- Starting on one device and finishing on another, including clicking through on a laptop and buying in the Best Buy app. The click has to happen where the checkout happens.
- Ad blockers, cookie blocking, and on TopCashback's own warning, Safari.
- Items already in the cart before the click. TopCashback states the empty-cart rule outright on its Best Buy page.
- Quantity. Six or more of the same SKU voids the order at Rakuten, and more than five of one item voids it at Price.com, both quoted above.
- A return, an exchange or a cancellation, which reverses the commission the cashback was going to be paid from.

How these Best Buy numbers were produced
- Read directly from each portal's own merchant page, never copied from another comparison site.
- A rate we could not read is reported as unread. It is never converted into a zero, and a failed check never overwrites a previously good number.
- "Up to" and new-customer-only rates are labelled as such and are not allowed to win the top spot over a lower rate that everyone actually gets.
Best Buy cashback FAQ
Which portal pays the most for Best Buy cashback right now?
MaxRebates, at 8%. That's the rate a returning shopper gets, which is how the table ranks: an "up to" ceiling or a new-customer rate never takes this spot over a lower rate everyone gets.
How long does Best Buy cashback take to pay out?
On a click-through portal there are two waits, one after the other: the portal has to confirm the order with Best Buy, which mostly tracks Best Buy's return window, and then the confirmed balance has to be paid out, which is the portal's own rule. Buying Best Buy's gift card through a portal skips the first wait: that cashback is paid when the card is bought.
- MaxRebates: Pending for 90 days to cover store return policies, cancellations and commission collection; it often takes up to 90 days for cash back to become payable, depending on the product and the merchant. Payout: On request, once the cash back is payable. A PayPal payout should arrive within 7 to 14 business days.
- Fluz: Instant. The cashback lands in the Fluz balance when the gift card is bought. Payout: On request; 2 to 7 business days. Fluz charges no fee, but passes on any transfer fee it's charged.
- RebatesMe: Cash back becomes available after the 90-day return window.
- Price.com: Typically 30 to 90 days: pending until the retailer confirms the purchase and its return period ends. Payout: On request, once the cash back is approved.
- Raise: Posted to the Raise account when the gift card is bought, and rescinded if that purchase is refunded or cancelled for any reason. Payout: Posted on each gift-card purchase. Raise Cash expires 180 days after the day it was earned.
- Active Junky: Orders stay pending until the partner store approves them. For travel and events, partners typically approve within about 3 months after the trip or event. Payout: On the 20th of each month, or the next business day when the 20th falls on a weekend or holiday.
- Hoopla Doopla: Usually posts within 10 days of purchase, then becomes yours after 90 days. Payout: Every three months. Payments go out by the end of January, April, July and October to everyone who qualifies.
- Extrabux: Usually tracked within 1 to 7 days of purchase, then held through a 90-day window for returns or cancellations at most stores before it becomes available. Payout: On request. Requests are processed within 3 business days; PayPal and eGift cards typically land within 24 to 48 hours after that, ACH takes about 5 business days, and a check 1 to 2 weeks by post.
- TopCashback: No fixed window. Cash back goes pending, then confirmed once the retailer reviews the order, then payable once the retailer's network is invoiced. TopCashback prints an estimated payout speed on each merchant's page. Payout: On request, once the cash back is payable. Adding bank, PayPal or Venmo details puts a 72-hour hold on the account first.
- BeFrugal: Verified cash back sits in the account for 30 to 90 days, set by the retailer's return policy and its payment cycle with BeFrugal. Store pages say cash back is typically available for payment 15 to 60 days after purchase. Payout: On request. Most payouts are sent on the next business day after the request.
- GoCashBack: It can take up to 120 days for cash back to become available. Payout: On request. A payment request is processed within 7 to 14 business days.
- Rakuten: 3 to 14 weeks for online and in-store purchases; 45 to 120 days for travel. Payout: Every three months: February 15, May 15, August 15 and November 15.
- Lolli: Rewards become available once each retailer's confirmation period has passed, typically 90 days after the purchase or completed travel reservation. It can take up to 90 days. Payout: On request, once the balance is available.
- Sunshine Rewards: Earnings should post within 10 days. Sale credits are then held: 28 days per the help page, 21 days from the date of purchase per the terms page. Payout: Twice a month, on request: a cashout requested from the 1st through the 15th is paid on the 15th of the next month, and one requested from the 16th through the last day is paid on the last day of the next month.
Is there a minimum payout?
- MaxRebates: $10.00 per payment, with a $2,000.00 maximum.
- Fluz: $15 in lifetime earnings once, then $1 per withdrawal.
- RebatesMe: $10 in available cash back, not counting bonuses.
- Price.com: $10 per withdrawal, with a $500 cap per withdrawal and per day.
- Raise: None to redeem; Raise applies it at your next checkout. Gift cards must be bought for at least $5, and with more than $1,000 in Raise Cash on hand you have to redeem some before earning more.
- Active Junky: None stated for the monthly payout. Cashing out early as a gift card takes $5.01 in approved cash back.
- Hoopla Doopla: $5.00 in approved cash back per period, for PayPal, Venmo and paper checks alike. A balance under that carries over to the next period.
- Extrabux: $10 available balance, with at least one confirmed purchase carrying more than $1 in available cash back.
- TopCashback: None for PayPal, Venmo or bank transfer; some gift cards have one.
- BeFrugal: $0.01 for PayPal or direct deposit; $25 for a check.
- GoCashBack: $10 in withdrawable cash back, not counting sign-up, referral or activity bonuses for the first withdrawal.
- Rakuten: $5.01 in confirmed cash back before the payment date; $5.00 or less carries over to the next one.
- Lolli: $15 in available balance.
- Sunshine Rewards: 20.00 in credits, and the account has to be at least 45 days old. Cashouts are capped at $500 a month.
Does Best Buy cashback work in the Best Buy app?
Not the click-through kind, as far as Rakuten's, TopCashback's and Price.com's pages say. Rakuten pays only on "orders completed through the Best Buy US site" source. TopCashback's only app mention is a deals tip, "Download the Best Buy mobile app to access Best Buy Drops, where you'll find limited-time deals on a variety of trending products." source, not a way to buy. Price.com's steps end with "Complete your purchase in the Best Buy tab." source, a browser tab. The click has to happen in the browser that checks out. Fluz is the exception because it's a payment, not a click: its cards work "in-store and online" source, and in a store the page's own instructions are "Show your e-Gift Card barcode to the cashier." and "Tell the cashier you are paying with a gift card." source. The card's 5% and the membership points don't care which device you buy on either. So if the app or the store is how you shop, Fluz, the card and the membership are the three routes that fit how you actually buy.
Do Apple products, game consoles or laptops earn cashback at Best Buy?
Apple, no, at Rakuten, TopCashback and Price.com: Rakuten excludes "Apple Products (including iPhones, Apple Watch, MacBooks, and AirPods)" source, TopCashback "Apple products" source, and Price.com "Apple products" source. Consoles, mostly no: Rakuten keeps "Nintendo Switch Consoles & Nintendo Switch 2 Consoles" and excludes "the PS5 Pro" and "all other Video Game Consoles" source; TopCashback excludes "gaming consoles (including handhelds)" source; Price.com excludes "handheld gaming devices" and "video game hardware" source. Laptops are the contradiction covered in the exclusions section: excluded in the terms at Rakuten and TopCashback, named as tiers on the same pages. Price.com is the cleanest read for an ordinary laptop, because its list names only "gaming desktops and laptops, Microsoft Surface laptops" and "desktops and all-in-one computers" source, so a non-gaming, non-Surface laptop isn't excluded there, with the "$15" cap on the order source. For an iPhone, a MacBook or a PS5, the route is Fluz plus the card: a Fluz card is a payment, its Best Buy terms exclude nothing but cash and other cards source, and the card's 5% pays on "qualifying Best Buy purchases" with no brand list attached source.
Can I use a promo code, a member price or a price match and still get cashback?
A member price, yes; it's just the price, and none of the three Best Buy pages quoted here says a word about it. A code, only if it came from the portal's own Best Buy page: TopCashback excludes "Use of a coupon code not displayed on TopCashback." source, and Rakuten's page doesn't carry a coupon line at all source, so stick to what's listed there. A price match, yes with the portals and no with a coupon: "customers can either use a coupon or price match to a lower price, but not both" source. A reward certificate spends alongside all of it, "Reward certificates typically may be combined with other offers." source. With Fluz, nothing on its page limits codes or matches source, so the card, the code and the match can all land on one order, as long as the code and the match aren't on the same item.
Does store pickup count for Best Buy cashback?
None of the Best Buy terms at Rakuten, TopCashback or Price.com name pickup either way. Rakuten's rule is about where the order is placed, "orders completed through the Best Buy US site" source, and its editorial describes pickup as a normal way to order: "Before placing your order, choose the option for Store Pickup and select the store you wish to collect your order from." source. TopCashback's and Price.com's Best Buy terms say nothing about fulfillment source source. So a pickup order placed on the site after the click isn't excluded anywhere we can find, and it also isn't promised anywhere. If the cashback is the reason you're ordering, choose shipping and take the sure thing; if pickup is the reason, Fluz and the card are the routes that don't depend on it.
Is My Best Buy Plus worth it for the 1%?
Not for the 1% on its own. At "$29.99 per year" source, the points alone need about $3,000 of qualifying spend before they've paid for the membership, and a portal pays on the same order without a fee. What actually earns it back is the "Extended 60-day return window on most products." against the standard 15, "Free two-day shipping." and the member prices source. If you buy one big-ticket item a year and want the longer window on it, that's the case for Plus. Total at "$199.99 per year" source is a protection plan with a membership attached, and it's only worth it if you'd have bought the protection anyway. Neither fee is likely to earn portal cashback; that row is in the stacking table.
Is there a minimum order for Best Buy cashback?
None of Rakuten's, TopCashback's or Price.com's Best Buy pages states one. The limits run the other way: Price.com caps it at "Max Cash Back Per Order:" "$15" source, TopCashback pays on "the item(s) price" only, never "taxes, shipping or other fees" source, and a Fluz card runs "from $10–$500" source. The threshold you'll actually feel is shipping: "Free standard shipping on orders $35 and up", counted "after coupons and before taxes" source. The free My Best Buy membership removes it: "The $35 minimum does not apply to My Best Buy™, My Best Buy Plus™ or My Best Buy Total™ members." source. Payout minimums are per portal, in the questions above.
