Dell Cashback: Every Portal's Rate, Compared
The best Dell cashback we found is 2% at Rakuten, read from Rakuten's own Dell page.
Dell cash back rates by portal
Every rate below was read from that portal's own Dell page, and every row shows when we last looked. Where a rate has a catch, the catch is printed next to the number rather than underneath it.

Rates move without notice, so treat anything more than a couple of days old as worth re-checking at the portal before you shop.
How to get Dell cashback, step by step
- Open Rakuten's Dell page and click through to Dell from there. That click is what ties the order to your account, so start every Dell order this way rather than from a bookmark or a search result. The rate as we last read it was 2%.
- Shop in that same tab and session. Don't leave for a coupon site and come back, and turn off any other cashback or coupon extension before you check out: the last click before the order is the one that gets credited, and another extension's click can take it.
- Check out in one go, using only codes Rakuten itself shows for Dell. A code from somewhere else can void the cashback on many stores.
- Wait for it to confirm. 3 to 14 weeks for online and in-store purchases; 45 to 120 days for travel. Returning part of the order, or cancelling it, changes what gets paid.
- Get paid. Rakuten pays by: Big Fat Check by mail, PayPal, American Express Membership Rewards points, or Bilt. A confirmed balance of $5.00 or more can also be redeemed as a gift card within minutes. Minimum: $5.01 in confirmed cash back before the payment date; $5.00 or less carries over to the next one. Timing: Every three months: February 15, May 15, August 15 and November 15.
Getting paid, portal by portal
Each portal's own help pages, as written there. The source link on each row goes to the page it came from. These are the portal's terms, not Dell's.
| Portal | Paid by | Minimum | Confirmation window |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rakutensource | Big Fat Check by mail, PayPal, American Express Membership Rewards points, or Bilt. A confirmed balance of $5.00 or more can also be redeemed as a gift card within minutes. | $5.01 in confirmed cash back before the payment date; $5.00 or less carries over to the next one. | 3 to 14 weeks for online and in-store purchases; 45 to 120 days for travel. |
| Price.comsource | Debit card deposit, PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, gift cards, a donation to charity, or crypto. | $10 per withdrawal, with a $500 cap per withdrawal and per day. | Typically 30 to 90 days: pending until the retailer confirms the purchase and its return period ends. |
| GoCashBacksource | PayPal, check, gift card (US only) or Helipay. | $10 in withdrawable cash back, not counting sign-up, referral or activity bonuses for the first withdrawal. | It can take up to 120 days for cash back to become available. |
| Extrabuxsource | PayPal, eGift cards, ACH bank deposit (US only), check (US only), or a donation to a charity. | $10 available balance, with at least one confirmed purchase carrying more than $1 in available cash back. | Usually tracked within 1 to 7 days of purchase, then held through a 90-day window for returns or cancellations at most stores before it becomes available. |
Does Dell have its own cashback or rewards program?
Yes, Dell Rewards, a real first-party program confirmed on Dell's own site, free to join, with a baseline earn rate plus time-limited category promotions that push the ceiling higher.
- Free to join, no catch. "There is no fee to join and no ongoing membership fee." source.
- The baseline rate. "Shop Dell.com to earn 3% back in rewards (calculated before tax). Rewards are typically added to your account within 30 days of your order's ship date. You must be signed in using your Dell Rewards email to earn or redeem rewards." source. Rakuten's editorial independently states the same baseline: "Join Dell Rewards and earn 3% back in points on all purchases, free expedited delivery, and access limited-time, member-only offers." source.
- Why the site's own banner says a higher ceiling. Dell's page headlines the program as one "in which members can earn up to 9% back in rewards to use on future purchases" source, a figure that comes from stacking category-specific multipliers on top of the 3% baseline rather than a flat rate: "Get 3X (9%) Dell Rewards on ALL PC Accessories." source is a live example of that multiplier, time-limited and category-specific rather than storewide. Rakuten's own editorial states a third figure for the same program, "Become a Dell Rewards member for free and get up to 6% back in rewards points" source, which doesn't match Dell's own "up to 9%" line; treat the 3% baseline as the reliable number and any higher ceiling as a category promotion that needs checking on the day, not a rate you can count on for a given order.
- Redemption. "You can redeem rewards on Dell.com at checkout or with a Sales representative. You will not earn points on the value of rewards applied to your purchase. Rewards expire on the last day of the 6th month following the month the purchase was made." source.
- The points-to-dollar conversion is real, confirmed two ways. TopCashback's editorial states it directly: "These Dell Rewards points are redeemable for cash; 100 points equal $1." source. Rakuten's own listing of a Dell Pay Credit promotion independently checks out against that rate: "Earn $50 (5,000 points) when you open a Dell Pay Credit Account and are enrolled in Dell Rewards." source, which is exactly 100 points per dollar.
- The annual cap. "You can earn a maximum of $20,000 rewards in a calendar year." source.
- What doesn't earn points. "However, there are three payment methods ineligible to earn Dell Rewards: 1) Promo eGift Cards, 2) any balance paid with Dell Rewards, and 3) any portion of a transaction paid with a Special Offer." source. Separately, "Dell Outlet orders are not eligible to earn or use rewards on a transaction." source.
- A separate discount, not a rewards tier. "Get 10% off when you register for Dell Rewards and verify your student or teacher status." source, confirmed independently on Price.com's own deals list for Dell: "10% off for students and teachers" source.
Put together: 3% is the number to count on, the higher figures are time-limited category multipliers or a different site's editorial estimate, and the student/teacher discount is a separate coupon rather than a rewards tier. None of it is portal cashback, so a portal click stacks with Dell Rewards on the same order, subject to the exclusions below.
What Dell cashback stacks with
The short version: of the three portals whose Dell terms this page quotes, Rakuten and Price.com both publish a detailed exclusions list and the two lists overlap closely, category by category; TopCashback's page states one plain rule in its editorial (a student, military or employee discount voids the cash back) but its dedicated terms-and-exclusions panel didn't load on either fetch attempt this session, curl or WebFetch, so treat anything not stated in its editorial as untested there rather than safe. Fluz sells a generic virtual card usable anywhere Mastercard or Visa is accepted, not a Dell-branded gift card, a separate mechanism from the click-through portals.
| Layer | Stacks with portal cashback? | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Earning Dell Rewards points | Yes | Points post from Dell's own system; none of the three portals' terms say a tracked click interferes with earning them. |
| Paying with Dell Rewards | No, at Rakuten by name | Rakuten's exclusions list names "orders using Dell Rewards" directly source. Neither TopCashback's editorial nor Price.com's exclusions address paying with rewards specifically source source. |
| A coupon code from elsewhere | No, at Rakuten by name | Rakuten's exclusions void Cash Back on "any other coupon code not listed on Rakuten, including but not limited to Dell Email Subscription sign-up offers" source. TopCashback's editorial says its own listed codes "stack with Cash Back for bigger savings" source, which by implication means a code from somewhere else is the risk there too. |
| Student, military or employee discount | No, at TopCashback by name | "If you're in school, there's a Dell student discount that you can use (once you verify your student ID), but it will invalidate your Cash Back. The same applies for Dell's military discounts and employee discounts, so please bear that in mind." source. Neither Rakuten's nor Price.com's exclusions name these discounts specifically source source, so treat them as untested rather than safe at those two. |
| The Dell Pay Credit Account (financing) | Not named as an exclusion by any of the three | Dell's own terms describe it as a separate line of credit rather than a payment method that voids cash back source; none of the three portals' exclusions mention it either way. |
| Gift cards, Dell's own or the Fluz card | No, at Rakuten and Price.com by name; a different mechanism at Fluz | Rakuten excludes "Gift Cards" source and Price.com excludes "gift card purchases" source, confirmed only through those two exclusions since this session's own Dell.com fetch didn't reach a branded gift-card page. The Fluz card here isn't a Dell-branded gift card at all: it's a generic Fluz Virtual Card, usable "Anywhere Mastercard/Visa is accepted, including online and in-store" source, funded from a Fluz balance or linked bank account before you ever reach Dell's checkout. Paying with it is a separate transaction from a portal-tracked click, so the two don't stack on the same order either way. |
| A second portal | Never | Only one tracking click gets credit; the pillar guide explains why the last click wins. |
Dell cashback exclusions and what breaks tracking
Rakuten's and Price.com's exclusion lists cover much of the same ground, both naming Dell's institutional order channels by name; TopCashback's dedicated list wasn't reachable this session.
- Rakuten's exclusions. Under the heading "Cash Back is not available on:" source, Rakuten's page lists each of these as its own line, not joined into a sentence: Dell Outlet, Dell Refurbished Computers, Dell Canada purchases via Dell Technologies, Dell Business Alliance Systems orders, Dell Employee & Affiliates Purchase Program, Dell Premier Orders, Education orders, Emerging Business Division orders, Government orders, Healthcare orders, Internet Service Provider Division orders, JBL, Medium & Large Business orders, Dell QTO (Quote to order), eQuote orders, Call/Chat agent supported orders, Price matching/adjustments, Preorders, Gift Cards, Warranties, and orders using Dell Rewards. Two more, stated separately: "Cash Back not available on sales of products and services believed to be sold to parties reselling products and/or services offered by Dell." and "Cash Back is not available for large volume orders and cancelled/exchanged/refunded orders." source. Special terms: "Cash Back is only available on US orders placed on the Dell Technologies US site." source. Posting: "Cash Back will be automatically added to your Rakuten account today." source.
- Price.com's exclusions, with the resale threshold Rakuten doesn't state. "Cash Back is not available on purchases believed to be for resale or on high-volume orders, which Dell defines as more than three units of any system per month. Exclusions also include orders through Dell Business Alliance Systems, the Dell Employee & Affiliates Purchase Program, Dell Premier, Education, Emerging Business Division, Government, Healthcare, Internet Service Provider Division, and Medium & Large Business. Additionally, Cash Back is not available on gift card purchases, Dell QTO (Quote to Order), or Dell Outlet orders." source. Timing: "Purchases will typically show in your wallet as pending in 4 hours." and "Cash Back will be added to your wallet in approximately 89 days." source.
- TopCashback's terms, from its editorial rather than a bullet list. Its dedicated "Cash Back terms and exclusions" panel returned no content on this session's fetch, curl or WebFetch, pointing only to TopCashback's general terms and conditions source; the one specific rule it does state in prose is the student/military/employee discount conflict above.
- What Education orders and Emerging Business Division mean here. Both Rakuten's and Price.com's exclusions read almost identically on Dell's institutional channels, which looks like both portals drawing on the same Dell-supplied exclusion feed rather than independent research. That Education orders exclusion is Dell's bulk institutional buying channel for schools, a different thing from the individual student and teacher discount named above, which isn't listed as a Rakuten or Price.com exclusion by name.
What breaks tracking at any store, Dell included (the pillar guide has the portals' own wording on each):
- A second coupon or cashback extension that fires after the one you're earning with, so its click is the last one Dell sees.
- A coupon code from somewhere other than the portal's own listing, at Rakuten by name.
- Verifying a student, military or employee discount on the order, at TopCashback by name.
- Paying with Dell Rewards, gift cards, or a Promo eGift Card, at Rakuten and Price.com.
- Buying through Dell's institutional channels (Premier, Education, Government, Healthcare, Business Alliance Systems and the rest) rather than the consumer Dell.com checkout, at Rakuten and Price.com.
- A return, an exchange or a cancellation, which reverses the commission the cashback was going to be paid from.

How these Dell numbers were produced
- Read directly from each portal's own merchant page, never copied from another comparison site.
- A rate we could not read is reported as unread. It is never converted into a zero, and a failed check never overwrites a previously good number.
- "Up to" and new-customer-only rates are labelled as such and are not allowed to win the top spot over a lower rate that everyone actually gets.
Dell cashback FAQ
Which portal pays the most for Dell cashback right now?
Rakuten, at 2%. That's the rate a returning shopper gets, which is how the table ranks: an "up to" ceiling or a new-customer rate never takes this spot over a lower rate everyone gets.
How long does Dell cashback take to pay out?
On a click-through portal there are two waits, one after the other: the portal has to confirm the order with Dell, which mostly tracks Dell's return window, and then the confirmed balance has to be paid out, which is the portal's own rule. Buying Dell's gift card through a portal skips the first wait: that cashback is paid when the card is bought.
- Rakuten: 3 to 14 weeks for online and in-store purchases; 45 to 120 days for travel. Payout: Every three months: February 15, May 15, August 15 and November 15.
- Price.com: Typically 30 to 90 days: pending until the retailer confirms the purchase and its return period ends. Payout: On request, once the cash back is approved.
- GoCashBack: It can take up to 120 days for cash back to become available. Payout: On request. A payment request is processed within 7 to 14 business days.
- Extrabux: Usually tracked within 1 to 7 days of purchase, then held through a 90-day window for returns or cancellations at most stores before it becomes available. Payout: On request. Requests are processed within 3 business days; PayPal and eGift cards typically land within 24 to 48 hours after that, ACH takes about 5 business days, and a check 1 to 2 weeks by post.
Is there a minimum payout?
- Rakuten: $5.01 in confirmed cash back before the payment date; $5.00 or less carries over to the next one.
- Price.com: $10 per withdrawal, with a $500 cap per withdrawal and per day.
- GoCashBack: $10 in withdrawable cash back, not counting sign-up, referral or activity bonuses for the first withdrawal.
- Extrabux: $10 available balance, with at least one confirmed purchase carrying more than $1 in available cash back.
Is Dell Rewards free, and how much does it actually pay?
Free, no fee to join or keep. "There is no fee to join and no ongoing membership fee." source. The number to count on is 3%: "Shop Dell.com to earn 3% back in rewards (calculated before tax)." source. Dell's own banner advertises a higher ceiling from category-specific, time-limited multipliers like "3X (9%) Dell Rewards on ALL PC Accessories" source, and Rakuten's editorial states a third, different ceiling for the same program source, so treat anything above the 3% baseline as a promotion to check on the day rather than a standing rate.
Does a portal click still earn if I use my Dell Rewards balance to pay?
No, at Rakuten by name. Its exclusions list names "orders using Dell Rewards" directly source. Neither TopCashback's editorial nor Price.com's exclusions address it source source, so it's confirmed void at one portal and untested at the other two rather than safe anywhere.
Does Dell cashback still work if I use a student, military or employee discount?
Not at TopCashback, which states it outright: "it will invalidate your Cash Back. The same applies for Dell's military discounts and employee discounts, so please bear that in mind." source. Neither Rakuten's nor Price.com's exclusions name these discounts specifically source source; the discount itself is real (Dell's own page: "Get 10% off when you register for Dell Rewards and verify your student or teacher status" source), it's the stacking that's confirmed to fail at one portal and unconfirmed at the others.
Do gift cards ever earn cashback at Dell?
Not from a portal, and the Fluz option here isn't a Dell gift card in the first place. Rakuten excludes "Gift Cards" source and Price.com excludes "gift card purchases" source. Fluz's Dell page sells a generic virtual card instead, usable "Anywhere Mastercard/Visa is accepted, including online and in-store via Apple Pay or Google Pay" source, funded from your Fluz balance or bank account before the purchase, which is a different transaction from a portal-tracked click and doesn't stack with one on the same order.
Is there a minimum order for Dell cashback, and how fast does it post?
None of Rakuten's, TopCashback's or Price.com's Dell pages states one; TopCashback's editorial confirms Dell itself has none either, "free shipping on everything, with no minimum spend required" source, echoed on Price.com's own summary, "free standard delivery with no minimum order threshold" source. Posting speed differs by portal: Rakuten adds Cash Back "automatically added to your Rakuten account today" source, while Price.com shows a purchase "pending in 4 hours" with Cash Back payable "in approximately 89 days" source. Dell's own rewards, separately, typically post "within 30 days of your order's ship date" source.
